As I open my eyes the look of full awakeness but physically tired, I roll over to my side to see how bright my room is almost as a day after a blizzard without the cold. The feeling had me energized and up and out of bed to get the day started that was ahead of me. As I make my bed, I see the fluffiest and most adorable cat laying sound asleep, so peaceful and warm to see. Almost as if it’s a message to get back in bed and give all my love to the cat. My phone lights up like a lightning storm, I look and see to my astonishment. I’m late, I quickly run to my closet and get the necessities, swim suit, clothes, towels, and more. I pick the most summeriest of outfits you could choose, from the arrangements of colors in my closet from the brightest …show more content…
They’re all waiting to finally get to jump into the cool, refreshing water that we’ve been waiting for throughout the whole winter. In the process of getting up to the lake the entire car ride, you can see all the bright mystery, beige, and light yellows from the corn being grown and the grass growing back to it’s natural dark but almost bright green colors. We can see all the kayaks on top of the moving cars passing by, windows being put down, and dogs hanging their heads out the window with their tongue flowing in the air and us still blasting our music out the roof as if there’s a mini concert going on. We didn’t mind as I hear everyone signing their heart out to the music, dancing trying to hit every beat they can and laughing at how funny we all …show more content…
We make our way onto the boat getting settled in and preparing for the sun by putting on the sour smelling of sunscreen. We hit the waves waiting for the sun to kiss our skin . We finally arrive to the middle of the lake where everyone else seems to enjoying themselves, kids jumping into the water playing Marco Polo, having trick competitions on who can get into the water the coolest, while their parents sits underneath the shade, talking and enjoying the relaxation for the time being. We set up the boat to stay float like a rubber ducky in a bathtub, and then goes the yelling of “1, 2, 3”as we jump in making crashes into what once was a quiet lake. As I swim up to the surface I hear the excitement in everyone's voice of how nice and warm the water is, almost as if it’s a blanket covered in warmth holding you in it’s arms. After awhile of flipping off floaties and playing king of the Maui mat, we start swimming towards to the boats stairs, as one by one we climb up every step we take we feel a slight cool sensation being covered all over our bodies after just being in the warm, loving water. I sit down drying myself off, as I’m about done the food starts pouring in,

At this moment, the narrator realizes how repugnant the lake and “badness” truly are. This summer was different, I didn't want to travel but instead I wanted to stay back in Hawaii. My family and I went down to Milolii, THE LAST FISHING VILLAGE. I felt like I was losing my connection to my roots and this was the very thing I needed. I’m a very competitive person, challenges are something I crave, so my brother and I often have feuds about who's the better diver, and who can bring up the most fish or biggest catch of the day. My Uncle Mahina, being the son of the highest and most respected kupuna knows a lot about the waters.…

He emphasizes how because you have freedom, you have to the right to go out and have fun and do what you please. The children are free to roam around the entire lake without an indication of drowning. They are having fun as a group and never once are worried about the dangers of what could happen, “To wrap themselves around another and to never let go. It was a hot, sunny day in Big Bear. There wasn't a single ripple in the water, but that was before I had executed a perfect, 10/10 belly flop onto the surface of the water. The lake was surprisingly frigid for such a warm day, but I didn't care the cold made me feel all the more exhilarated. Moments after I made my graceful entrance into the water, two more splashes disturbed the once serene environment.…

With every step the sand shifts. With every unexpected motion forward there is some backward and down, just like walking in fresh fallen snow. Yet unlike the crystalline blanket of white bequeathed by the winter time, the fine grains under foot give me warmth from the suns rays. Like their sky-bound benefactor they are yellow, as if the sunshine itself is trapped inside these unmelting crystals. Despite the heat I find myself frozen in place once my eyes take in the ocean.…
