Personal Narrative: Growing Up In Middle School

Improved Essays
Growing up I was always scrawny, even before my growth sprout I was still considered slender. So elementary school for me wasn't always fun because I was extremely insecure about almost everything, mainly my voice. I still am just not as much. And on top of that, I was picked on alot. Anyways so when I got into middle school this was a fresh start for me, no-one knew me in that school but my boy Jonathan. Now this school I went to was new for the most part but the students weren't because they attended the old school. Not only that but the school was located in the projects so of course there were going to be a lot of ghetto kids.

Now somehow when I first started this school I guess I gave off a “Tough Guy” vibe to some of the other guys

But after look of a little longer I noticed that he was leaning up against the wall, his eye were wide open, his jaw was lifeless and not only that but he was slowly sliding down the wall. Probably the funniest thing I've ever seen. My boy Jon sees me looking down at the guy and he give me this look like we just got caught burying bodies. So he like “Cmon Jay, we gotta get the fuck out of here” and we run to another flight of stair, jump down them, we both had the same class so we go in and sit down like nothing happened. I was pretty happy because my reputation is intact and probably looks better after that. Rumors are already going around about what happened, then over the intercom all you heard is “Jonathan Goodman please report to the principal’s office” then everyone likes “ooooooh” It was cool though. I walked out of there like I owned the place. Then like half way there I start thinking “My mom is about to kick my ass for this” I walked to the principal's office but on the way there is the nurse's office. So while I'm walking past I look in it and I see dude holding his face with one hand and stomach with the other. Then he looks up and me and give me the saddest puppy dog eyes ever, I'll never forget that

Think about the typical 80's "coming of age" movie set in high school. It opens by introducing the audience to the main character, usually not the most handsome, most popular or athletic teenager. He sees the most beautiful girl in the school and wishes he could be with her. Long story short, he gets the girl, loses the girl and some friends, gets friends back after much ridicule, and rides into the sunset with the girl. Well that’s how my story goes… sort of.…

This personal narrative is going to be about the first day of Middle School and my experiences as a 6th grader. It is going to go after my emotions and other descriptive details of the first day. I still remember how the seat belt felt tightening across my chest as the car got closer to the Middle School. During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

Memoir I am not a bad kid but in the past I have done some questionable things such as things that followed the guidelines of fists and bruises but I am going to tell you the story of when I got into my first fight. This story is kicked off by saying it was my first day of middle school in gym class when I decided try to smart mouth off to one of the new kids I was paired up with which probably was my first mistake, Never smart mouth off to a eighth grader that is heavier than you. To protect the antagonist’s identity I will call him fart knocker; I was sitting in the locker room changing out of my P.E. clothes when fartknocker thought it would be funny to take his axe deodorant and spray all over my clothing.…

Growing up I was always the tallest kid in the class. Whenever class picture day rolled around, I knew that I was in the front of the line because of my height. It was somewhat embarrassing when all the boys were shorter than I, and the girls made me feel bad for how out of place I was. Not only did my height provide social awkwardness, it also administered the constant, never ending struggle of finding garments long enough. Whenever my mom or grandmothers wanted to take me back to school shopping, I made excuses of “I don’t need any more habiliments” or “I do not feel good, all of the sudden…”…

Transitioning from middle school to high school is scary enough, not to mention finding out that your best friends won’t be attending that same school adds a little pressure on a pre-teen who, for the most part is really shy. When I first started high school I had a cousin who was a year older than me, she showed me around school and I ended up hanging out with her and her friends for a few months. Then she introduced me to some of her newer friends who were in the same grade as me. They were nice people and they got me through the first year of high school, but I never felt like I belonged to “their group”.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…
