Just a city girl born in South Detroit and raised in West Bloomfield. Growing up in Michigan is a unique experience that a lucky few get to call theirs. It is something the rest of the states get a preview of through a flash of images and clips in “Pure Michigan” commercials. My childhood was a fortunate one filled with road trips for sunsets “Up North” and Mackinac Island fudge. Nowhere could compare to being raised in this odd mitten-shaped state. It was a perfect place I never wanted to leave. Along with fifth grade came the economy crisis of 2008. This pushed my family’s real estate business under, thus encouraging a fresh start. We quickly packed up our lives and relocated to Lake Oswego, a small sub-city of Portland, Oregon. Right off
