Personal Narrative-Gone Knee-Replacement Surgery

Reminiscing on the good memories of sweat, hard work, and fun on the court with one of my greatest role models, I realize that experiencing it all with my grandfather and it is what ultimately led my career interest, and the overwhelming want to finally surpass him on and off the court. I had just gotten home from school when I heard word that Grandpa had under-gone knee-replacement surgery. It didn't come as a surprise to me since I had noticed he had not been able to keep up with me down at the court. My mission then became clear to me. I was determined to help my grandfather to get back on his feet after his surgery. In order for that to be possible, I managed to plan up a schedule that could make me flexible enough to be able to handle school, and help Pop-pops back on his feet. I needed to find a way, so I visited him one day and sat down with him to see in which ways I would be useful in the rejuvenation process of his knee replacement. That night, we had a talk about it and he told me a couple of wise words, as always. He said, “One of the most important qualities a man could ever possess is the ability to be responsible not only for the things and people you care about, but also for you, Brian.”
