Kids of all ages can go to Special One so it was a brand new experience. There were at least a hundred kids there all enjoying themselves. That week is where I met Carrie, Lexi, and Rachel, who are some of my best friends. Special One holds a distinctive place in my heart for two reasons. The first is that I got baptized in the little kiddie pool on the volleyball court that week. The second though is that I saw my previously agnostic friend Rachel, who at first had only come because her foster parents made her, complete her spiritual journey. That week was exhausting, but completely worth it. SALT Two was more interactive. I had to interview some of the other staff members. It was so inspiring to listen to how passionate they were about there jobs. Nobody was paid to work there. I also spent a day in the kitchen. Watching the cooks scurry around the kitchen, working hard at all hours of the day, was impressive. They woke up so early, and the kitchen didn’t even have air conditioning. They were such a funny group too. They were always telling jokes while they were cooking. Those people were really the foundation of the entire camp.
