We flew into mainland Haiti, but the village we go to, Sous A Philippe, is on a little island called La Gonave about 6 miles off of the mainland coast. So we took a 6 hour boat ride out on the bluest water I have ever seen. Arriving on the island was surreal. Seeing the village and the people for the first time was overwhelming. They greeted us with such warmth. During that phone call, my brother told me that one of the summer staffers at Tall Timbers had to leave, so there was a full-time spot open for me when I came home. I was absolutely blown away. Right then and there I saw God’s provision. Because I was obedient, because I let go of something I thought was so important, he granted it back to me. Sometimes we think that God is punishing us by taking things away. But he is really calling us into humility. He is calling us to be humble enough to admit that we don't know everything and to submit to the perfect plan He has in store for us.
