Personal Narrative: Going Into College

Going into college, I knew that there will be an abundance of life lessons learned, but I did not ken that I would be able to absorb such a tremendous amount in such a brief duration. This past year in college, I learned from my failures and successes, and these rewarding experiences transitioned to opportunities for me to gain vital skills and grow stronger mentally. Outside the classroom, college edified me how to work with others, communicate with professionals efficaciously, and construct perdurable relationships. Moreover, being away from home and living in an unfamiliar environment without my family availed me to become independent. This fall semester, I enrolled in an Engineering Orientation class (ENG 100) taught by a Mechanical Engineering senior. He shared his experiences as an engineering college student to the class, and above all, he can relate to us due to the fact that he was once a freshman too. Furthermore, his advice for going into engineering school was astronomically useful seeing that I went into engineering school without any preparation. Likewise, I have never taken any engineering related courses in high school and taking the course ME 170 (Computer Aided Design) introduced me to what software Mechanical Engineers operate to design and draw. In this course, I learned the rudiments to PTC Creo 3.0, and this is what I would be required to work with for the rest of my undergraduate career. This is a paramount step in my development as an engineering student since I went into my academic vocation without the eradication of any Creo skills. In the next academic year, I expect to become more familiarize with Creo 3.0 and hopefully develop into a well-rounded engineering
