My team ended up putting money together to make care packages for all the kids including Clothes, Shoes, Food, And School supplies. While everything was getting put together the kids were so excited, We did arts and crafts and outdoor activities for the whole day, As much as it was tiring I had so much motivation to make sure these kids all had the best time before we had to say goodbye. Getting able to share moments with these kids was an experience that has changed how I see things in life, A lot of people don't know what its like to grow up around that and make horrible judgments and presuppositions towards the lower class and never give them a chance. These kids were some of the kindest loving kids I've ever been around, Being able to become a leader to kids who experienced trauma and watch my fellow group show guidance and love to kids who may never have that in their life again was life-changing. This past summer has been one for the records! I have been with friends I have never talked to, and have done things I have never thought about doing. During my junior school year I was chosen to apply for the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) Program. I talked to previous alumni from my high school which have gone and they all shared the same feelings towards the program; they treasured their time at RYLA. I expected to learn in a classroom and take notes about different strategies that would shape me into a better leader; however, this was far from the truth.…
