“It's finally the the day,” I thought, as I heard my heart beating so fast, I never imagined this day would come. Today was the end of a journey, but also a start of a new one. I started taekwondo about three years ago. I went to a place called ATA, it’s a taekwondo studio across the street from school. When you walk in you see a big area for socks and shoes. You then turn left to see a large workout floor, with a parent area right by it. If you come everywhere is mostly red or black, red and black is ATA’s main color scheme. It’s convenient that ATA is right by school because I walk there after to teach on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My instructor is Master Teboe, he is a sixth degree black belt, pretty short but is super fast and strong, and has short brown hair that is styled into a fohawk. He is also very nice, congratulating, a good role model, and always pushes us to do our best. Suddenly, it was time,” Thump, thump, thump,” my heart raced again as I waited for him to call my name. He called me and read the certificate to me like every black belt gets. Next, he handed me the belt. After, I ended it with bow to the front and a bow to all of the parents and students that were there. “Great job, first degree, I always knew you could do it,” Master Teboe exclaimed.
Then at last, the part I have been waiting for was here! This was when you place your hand in black paint and on put it on the wall. The wall is full of all the black belts that have been here and earned a rank. Now it was my turn! I placed it on the wall, next to my instructors, posed for a few photos, and then got in the car to do our tradition.
