Get Away As I stand at the bridge in Santa Monica overlooking the beach I take a deep sigh of relief that I’m back on the ground safe. The air was so summery it was refreshing to be in weather I can enjoy for a change. I have family that I look forward to seeing and spending time with. Making unforgettable memories in adventurous unfamiliar places was always something I enjoyed since a child. It’s a wonderful feeling to travel and get away from everyday life. Doing things I love that I can’t do on a daily basis. I left work and gathered all my belongings. Making sure things are packed, doors are locked, and that my child has everything she needs to last a few days without me. It was all so overwhelming. It was so cold in the airport it put me in a inadequate mood because I still wanted to be sleeping , until my grandmother said let’s go to starbucks knowing that can always turn my mood around. As I drank my coffee I thought about all that would happen on my trip, and also about how guilty I felt leaving my daughter out of this fun vacation. As I was thinking I was interrupted by the announcement of my flight getting ready to board. Then I thought okay no turning back now I’m going to have a great stress free time. I was a little nervous to board the plane I haven’t been on one in years. I got on and sat uncomfortably next to my grandma as we took off. On the plane being so high in the air and thinking of all the things that could possibly go wrong made me anxious. My ears were blocked and the turbulence made my skin crawl I just wanted to be there already. Then I finally heard the flight attendant announce we were gonna land any minute. My ears popped as the plane dropped lower and lower it finally landed. All the passengers rushed to grab their carry ons. But I’m in no rush I’m here and it’s time to relax and forget about the crazy fast paced life I lived just hours ago. I made it after months of fantasizing of an escape from all the problems of
