It was a type of rice, but it was a little bit darker and so I tried it and it tasted horrible, so I thought if you put yum yum sauce on it and maybe it would taste a little bit better so I did and it tasted again horrible so I didn’t eat for the whole time I there. It is minutes later now and we are trudging down an overgrown trail, tactfully descending the deep slopes of New Mexican land. Everything smells strongly of mud and salt and soaked manure from the horse barn down the road. I almost trip over a weed, but my father steadies me and says, “Almost there, baby.” The arroyo is different than I have ever seen it.…

Life is simply perspective. Some say that you have your whole life to do something, while others will argue that life is short and you should enjoy it to the full extent of it’s worth. You can look at something as exquisite, or atrocious. It doesn’t change what it is, but it changes your reaction to it. No matter how sure you are about the morality, someone else could view it differently.…

The dancing of the snow, the running of the wind, the Earth was so quiet, so very, very quiet, ever since the outbreak. The outbreak caused the death of nearly every individual on the face of the world. I was the last living man who was living in the last place, anyone would want to be- Mt. Everest. A human tendency is to run away from problems, no matter how big or small; in my case, I ran away as soon as possible on a helicopter to a place where I know for a fact that I will be safe; this idea was the only reason why I survived the outbreak. I was isolated from the rest of the world, and it was just me, myself, and I.…

I was busily working at school on a Friday when I heard some stunning news: the President of the United States, Barack Obama, would be coming to my hometown, Kotzebue, Alaska. “Have you heard Obama is coming to Kotzebue in a few weeks?” asked Mr. Gindt. My class and I were informed about the surprising news from my lively teacher during class and thought he was messing around cause he’s the type who jokes about things a lot. I didn’t think it could be true because I couldn't picture Obama being in the same little town as where I lived. I contemplated about what I heard all day and tried to process it through my head whether it was true or not.…

My results for the Big 5 Personality test found five major dimensions of human personality known as the OCEAN model (***). Each letter of this acronym represents a trait such as, O-Openness to Experience, C-Conscientiousness, E-Extraversion, A-Agreeableness, and N-Neuroticism. According to the outcome of the test, I am not open to new experiences, I am reliable and organized, I tend to be shy, I am considerate, and I am a relaxed person.
