This time I was not even thinking. Every move was strictly muscle memory. I am pretty sure I wasn’t even thinking. The second song came to an end; I posed to signify the end of the routine. Normally, by this time I am so tired and can barely catch my breath, but right now all I could do was smile and continue

At times I was thinking in my head, “oh no, I don’t know what to do next,” but then I remembered that I can hold this pose for as long as I want. I have plenty of time to think and if I truly can think of anything then my falling out of my last pose will be my next pose. This exercise is stress free, which makes it more…

“Now when you are ready you can slide the safety switch over to the fire your gun should glow red when you do. Today your goal is to score the most points. The closer you get to the bullseye the more points you can get. You can fire when ready and when you run out of ammo set your gun down and flip the switch to safety. Buffy's vision blurred, damp hair covered part of her face, sticking with wet. She blinked her vision clearer for a minute, not quite ready to pull herself out of the puddle, not quite sure if she could. Face sideways in the water, cold and probably dying, flashes of how ran through her mind almost in slow motion, but almost in hyperspeed. The last weeks of sparring and battle-prep and the impending death march running like blood through her ears. Coming down here, determined, to end it.…

I was visiting my family in minnesota, staying at my Aunt’s house a few weeks before my birthday. I was watching cartoons with her and significantly older-than-me cousin in their shared bedroom. I can faintly remember the room, Table in one corner, and two separate beds in the other. An ancient boxed tv sat at the foot of their beds, with the VHS tape built in. We all joked around, hitting each other with pillows during previews and drinking soda past 10 pm.…

Let's get one thing straight. We are not the Breakfast Club. We did not meet by chance, and we did not leave whether or not we would always be friends a mystery to those who were watching us. As far as I know, we will always be friends, and if we are not, I’ll always try to remember what made us, us.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…

Change can be difficult for someone my age, or any age really. At the beginning of the school year, I moved from Bentonville, Arkansas, to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, which came with all sorts of changes. Some of the challenges I faced included making new friends, adjusting to my new life in Broken Arrow, and finding my way and where I belong in a new place. Unfortunately, when I moved I realized how difficult making friends was, especially since I did not know a single person at Broken Arrow.…

Comparative Platform Essay Netflix is something that’s rapidly become a part of society’s everyday life. It’s been taking over cable television, and shockingly taking over some people’s lives. Last weekend I visited my family’s log cabin in what’s known to be the middle of nowhere in rural Pennsylvania. Since there is absolutely no cable there, I knew I had to figure out a way to bring a system to watch the show that has been taking over my life, Stranger Things. We knew we could bring my computer and watch it from there, but we were well aware of how irritating it is to watch a show with another person through a computer screen versus a television.…

Best in Show Experiences are one of the ways we learn about our world. Specifically, concerts are a place where I see the opportunity to share unique encounters. I’ve been to quite a few concerts in my day, nine concerts, two music festivals, and sixty two artists in total. I love live music because every single person can experience a show differently.
