I was a little sad when it was really nice out, but we would bring in our own games or play on the

The teacher made me introduce myself and told me to sit down. I felt like I was a deer being stared down by a bunch of hungry beasts. The other students already had cliques established, and no one seemed to jump out of the social construct to say hi. The class proceeded as a normal class would, with lecture followed by questions. The bell rang for lunch time, the students ushered out, and into the cafeteria like wild animals.…

My family ate breakfast in the hotel, and then my mother drove me and my sister to school. Before school started, my mother talked to my third-grade teacher in the hallway, Mrs. Lavetter-Keidan, to explain what had happened and tell her that I lost all my school supplies. When my mother and teacher were finished with their conversation, my teacher came up to me and asked, “Would you like to share what happened with the class? Or would you rather keep it to yourself?” I thought about what would be the best for me, and I responded, “I would like to share with my classmates.”…
