Personal Narrative: Four-Year-Old Girl

Improved Essays
The little things do not matter to me when it comes to my children getting into trouble. I have a four year old girl, Grace and a two year old girl, Lilliana, so I have encountered numerous times where I just want to rip my head off.
One of those times happened to be the other day when I was in the other room getting dressed. I couldn't find anything to wear, of course, so I was taking a while. In the mean time, the girls were out in the other room playing. Well that was until it got awfully quiet (and if you're a mom you know when its quiet they are up to something). I come out to my two year old painting herself in my brand new bright red lipstick. My first emotion was frustration but then those big blue eyes looked up at me with pure innocence.

During my last clinical day, I was in the level 2 nursery and I worked with a 33 week and 5-day old baby girl who was born at 27 weeks. She was the result of a spontaneous placental abruption and had recently graduated from the level three nursery in First Hill. Meaghan was the nurse who I worked with and she was absolutely amazing. She had a diverse background in level two nursery care and worked in many different hospitals through her travel nursing carrier. She was up to date on evidenced based practice care and very informative about the all the rational for the care she was providing.…

The Kindergartner who was outside to play unsupervised got into a fight. I was meant to watch how he was doing, do a lap and ask how he was playing, while outside he was running around and said, “They are telling secretes about me and they are not telling”. After that he ran away to the playground with the swings, and slide. I walked behind him trying to understand what was going on, as he ran as soon as he told me that statement. While walking up the steps in the slide one of the supposed kids who was telling secretes was in front of him.…

Surrounded by a team of nurses, one doctor, and what seemed to be a grouping of blinding lights, I had a peculiar moment of serenity. I can’t quite explain whether it was the epidural or the fact that for twelve hours my body was engulfed by excruciatingly painful contractions which seemed to be attacking me in a sporadic manner, but in that one moment everything was perfect. Somehow I just let go off every single fear I had, I just remembered that in any moment there would be an extraordinary occurrence. Although a natural part in many women’s lives, since the beginning of time, it was a phenomenon in my life.…

I am the oldest child. I have two younger siblings who I love unconditionally, but life as the oldest child is not the picnic most people think it is. I know this probably sounds cliché, becoming who I am because of my siblings, but it is the truth without them I would not be the person I am today. When I was four years old my mother became pregnant with my sister. My sister, Madison was born seven months before I turned five.…

"Miss Jan, Miss Jan," the excited voice shouted over the noise of the crowded mall. My sister and I turned around to see a boy, probably around twelve years old, racing toward her. My sister called him by name, gave him a hug and asked him what was going on in his life. They talked as if they knew each other well. He and his mother chatted with my sister for some time before they left.…

That Day in Fourth Grade “People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something you must learn, and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. -Glinda” One of my best friends today, Teonna Frye, has influenced a lot of the choices that have made me into who I am today. I first met her as a “not-so-little,” brown-haired fourth grader. She was a giant that towered over all the kids in our grade.…

For my second entry of my integrative report I had another one-on-one interaction with Jacob, the three-year-old boy from my last entry. Jacob is a false name I will be using throughout this report for confidentiality purposes. This visit was very similar to my last visit as I babysat at the home of the child and we visited the park down the street. Much like the last time we played in the basement, which had lots of toys to play with and a television. Jacob is part of a traditional nuclear family as he has both a biological mother and father who he is dependent on (Shaffer, Kipp, Wood, & Willoughby, 2013, pg.…

They were talking among themselves and saying what they thought would happen next. Children would even say the things I did as I presented the project.
