“Leo?”
“I just need some air,” I said before stepping off the bus and into the crisp cool air. I walked down the sidewalk until I came to the park. I found a bench and pulled out my phone. I dialed my dad’s old number because mom kept it even after he died.

“I need my dad right now!” I screamed before pulling my knees up to my chest. I started sobbing letting the tears roll down my face. After I eventually stopped crying I walked over to the flower beds and picked a few flowers. I walked a little farther throughout the park and then down another street. I collapsed to my knees and started sobbing again.
“It should have been me! Not you Rayn! I’m so sorry!” I sobbed. “I miss you so much, I wish you could be here with me.” I couldn’t stop sobbing. I cried for everything that had gone wrong in my life.
A few minutes later I heard Vic calling out. I pushed myself off my knees and stood up.
“Coming, Vic,” I called. He found me and embraced me in a huge hug.
“It’s freezing, let’s get you on the bus,” he said putting his coat around my shoulders and walking me to the bus.

Derek had learned throughout the course of his life that it really didn't take much for a good day to turn into a bad day at the drop of a hat. He also knew that it was damn near impossible to salvage those days that suddenly go sour; that there isn't anything to do except try again the next day and hope for the best. Isaac and him have had their fair share of days of that sort and Derek could almost feel when one was coming on. They usually start off with something along the lines of Isaac getting sick, having a nightmare, worrying that he had done something wrong and that he was in trouble, or being grumpy and hard to get along with. Sometimes it was a combination of any one of those and they ultimately set the mood for the day.…
