I was sad to leave my miniature television and comfortable blankets, but mom told me that we had to get on another plane to Virginia in three hours. I grudgingly grabbed my suitcase and bundle of clothing and followed mom through another series of complicated processes to get to our next plane.
We arrived in Virginia 11p.m. at night. I spotted daddy right after we got off the plane. I ran into him arms and snotted all over his jacket. Dad left for America one year earlier to settle down at his job in Virginia Tech University. It must have been hard on him. He got skinnier and paler but still has the same bright smile on his face. Seeing him after one year triggered a wave of emotions. Mom was tearing up as well. All three of us stood in a tight hug crying until dad stepped away, took a deep breath, wiped his eyes and said “Shall we go see our new home?”
Dad took us to his car and drove us to the apartment he was living in. I was so excited, life in America was going to be great. We never owned a car back in China, and America was so clean. There were no crowds of people wherever we go, the air was clean, and not to mention how calming it was to see trees everywhere instead of tall
