Personal Narrative: First Day Of Middle School

Improved Essays
My heart was pounding as I walked into the lunchroom. It was the first day of Middle School, and I was the new kid. I knew about six kids in the whole entire sixth grade, but I acted normal.“ Where do you want to sit?” Rachel asked. I had no clue where the right seat was, or who anyone was. Thankfully Anna called over.

“Rachel!” she yelled across the room.. I met Anna once before at Rachel’s house, but other than that I had no clue who she was. “Over here,” she waved. We sat down next to Anna and her other friends. One of Rachel’s friends, Cait, waved to me. I smiled back. I knew most of the people at the table from Rachel, and some not at all. Everyone was talking about what their day had been like so far, and they had done over the summer.

This personal narrative is going to be about the first day of Middle School and my experiences as a 6th grader. It is going to go after my emotions and other descriptive details of the first day. I still remember how the seat belt felt tightening across my chest as the car got closer to the Middle School. During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

As I looked around at my new classmates on my first day of public school, I was in complete shock. All around me I saw students who did not care in the slightest about their education and who saw school as simply a chore instead of an adventure. They slumped down in their chairs, cheated off of each other left and right, rolled their eyes at teachers, and spent each day watching the clock, waiting for the bell to ring that would released from their “prison.” That August morning, I felt like I was in a completely different world: one where I did not belong.…

As I went to my first day of school in a new city I was nervous, I didn't know if I was going to make any new friends, if I was going to fit in. The first day began and I immediately met Randy and Byanca, little did I know at the time that they would be my friends for all of my school career. Time went by and so did the grade levels, I would always struggle with one subject and thrive in another. During my elementary and middle school years I would struggle in language arts and history, but I would thrive in mathematics mainly because I love numbers.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

the skinny blond girl replied. I smiled warmly at her and took note of the name. I turned towards the brunette and she introduced herself as Emily. It seemed that both girls were already friends with the others members of the lunch table. We ate and talked about our summer, anime, books and other random topics, suddenly I heard Jenna and Grace mention the three words that made the lunch 100x better.…

Lifeless, emotionless, perhaps too much coffee for some of us, nothing new. It had been two years of middle school, and it was nothing we hadn’t seen before. For us, it wasn’t the chant of new, but more instead. More homework, more classes, more friends, more problems, more effort, one more year, more work.…

Prior to middle school, I thought I was satisfied with my position. I had friends, got along with my teachers, excelled in sports, and got decent grades in my classes. Back then, I thought this well-roundedness I sought between these necessities would offer me self-satisfaction. Little did I know, however, that I was going to confront this well-rounded nature of mine during my first awards ceremony in middle school. Among the most intelligent, artistic or athletic of the students present there, I was the one of the few who simply struggled to stand out.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…

Hearing the alarm go off to indicate that there were only thirty minutes left until classes began, Daveigh groaned. There was no way she wasn't going to end up late today. Not because she was only just waking up, the seventeen year old had been up for hours, but because she had been so busy getting her makeup just right that she hadn't even bothered with her hair yet let alone her having enough time to go get coffee from the student lounge. The question was, which one was more important? If she finished her hair she wouldn't have time for coffee and would probably be a wreck all day.…
