Swoosh a rush of blood flows into my brain. Every second passes by faster and faster. I need to figure out how to stop this madness. Lying down in the middle of the street I see kids screaming, fighting over food for survival. The preschool is burning down by the minute. I need to figure out how to stop this madness. How did this get out of hand so fast? Drake! Drake get up! You need to do something about this! I wake up in my bed, wondering what that dream was all about? Why would the preschool be burning down? Why were kids fighting with knives and guns? Why am I having this dream in the first place? “Drake get out of bed and go to school!” yelled mom. “Ok I’m up!” said Drake running into the bathroom to take a shower.

I sit down on the couch and wonder how did this happen? I decide I better go talk to Lia about this. I run upstairs to talk to Lia and a Mustang bursts through our fence into our backyard. It runs into the back of our house and breaks through into the kitchen. The back side of the house starts to tip over and fall in. Lia’s room starts to break down and the floor starts to crumble in as she screams and falls down through the crumbling hole in the floor. Crack! she lands on the kitchen table which has crumbled to pieces. Lia gets impaled into one of the many jutting granite shards as I watch in horror as the life goes out of her face. I look in doubt as a sixth grade boy jumps out of the car and runs

Sedated for the car ride there, not having a clear sense of where she was for a couple of weeks, they were slow to give her the antipsychotics again. More weeks passed. She was there so long that the sling over her arm and brace over her ankle were taken back long before she was released. Nothing easy about it. For a long time, she didn’t trust the doctors, fought, bit and scratched them at every bare-skinned, unrestrained opportunity.…

The tone of Noel's voice in reply was one that few would have expected. It did not have the bravado one might have expected from a media darling (albeit a fallen one) nor the slightly spacey, wavering intonation of those that are fighting to hold onto what remains of their sanity. Nor, for that matter, did it contain the aggression that he had so often used against Dr Walt, whom he somewhat resented, for the doctor forced him to remember things he'd rather not. Instead, it might almost have been described as... ...shy! "Please, Delilah, come in," he said, standing back, making it obvious he was giving her plenty of personal space. "…

Throughout the entire night, I woke up with feverish bursts time and time again. I dreamt of death. My mother and father’s bony skulls were glinting at me through the blackness. I replayed the same scene over and over again: the persistent screaming in the background as a dull buzzing sounded beside my ears. And then the sound of gunshots exploding in the air as raiders crowded into our room.…

In the morning, I didn't even bother talking to Vic. It was going to embarrassing for him in any manner, so before he could wake up I grabbed my clothes and hurried to the bathrooms. People moved back and out of my way like they had been ever since I had punched that guy in here. After I was dressed, I went down for breakfast and actually sat with Justin today. Vic didn't acknowledge me as he came into the lobby and into the kitchen, sitting with no food with the rest of his group.…
