The doorway is pitch black. Filled with fear and curiosity, my head repeated a cautionary note, but my feet proceeding closer to the doorway. My heart was skipped beats and my breath slowed. I stepped through the threshold, right foot first as the rest of my body followed. I inhaled deeply and closed my eyes as I walked into the unknown.

My body quivered as I opened my eyes, only to see nothing. I wandered around this blank space. There was nothing but white everywhere I swung my head. I began thinking about the earth that I left behind. As I thinking about the oceans and the lakes water drizzled from my fingers onto the blank canvas below my feet. Stunned, I ran my fingers against the ground envisioning thick green grass and again it fell

Yawning, I slowly got and looked around. I was frozen in my tracks, for endless miles all I could see around myself was mellow hills with trees every now and then. I muttered out grunt thinking about how the hell I could have gotten here and where was I anyways? After a few minutes of pure confusion, I started to walk slowly towards the top of the closest hill; my rubber soled converse squeaking as they rubbed against the soft dried grass. When I got to the top, I scanned the horizon trying to conclude where…

I’ve fallen through the earth and landed someplace I cannot see. It is endlessly dark, so dark that I cannot tell whether my eyes are open or closed, though I’m fairly certain that they are open, I think. A few experimental blinks later and I can confirm the openness of my eyes. It is cold here, and I appear to be sitting on some kind of rock. My muscles are locked in place, I’m too scared, too confused to move.…

I embraced the gradual darkness with open arms; it replaced the anguish with soothing nothingness. I awoke to barrenness and smoky tendrils idly floating away into the sky above. Everything within sight was charred and blackened. I only had a vague recollection of the destruction that occurred the night before, as if a fragment of my lucid mind was ripped away and forever captured in a state of asphyxia -- lost for eternity.…

Continuation of Macabre. I opened the rusty door, and I peaked inside the dark and dusty cabin. Even though the moon was at its fullest, its light couldn’t even freckle a glimpse of light into the pitch dark cabin. The cool breeze whisks through my hair as I stare up into the cloudless night sky. I take a deep breath through my nose and take long, deliberate strides to the end of my driveway. As I reach my black mailbox, I look to my left at the barren streets, illuminated only by the yellow streetlights, and on my right, a dark, menacing hill with one yellow light at the base and a small flickering light at the summit, but the middle left pitch black.…
