A smirk went across his face as he saw his victim in a vulnerable position. Some would think that was just how he smiled, but everybody who attended Ridgecoast High School knew better than that. At that moment, Trevor was busying himself by ripping up Caleb’s report for science class. “Please, just stop it!” Caleb yelled out. “It’s the only copy I have!” He was on the verge of calling a teacher, but who knew what laid in store for him had he not stayed silent? When Trevor was done ripping the essay to shreds, he frowned innocently. “I’m sorry, was this your essay? I must have not known, seeing it was just lying in a homework folder.” “Of course it was mine, you-” Caleb stopped in his tracks before he said something mean. He wanted to help people, but not because he was doing bad things to somebody else. “I don’t know if I should…” he muttered. Now, Caleb wanted to call 9-1-1 so he could report Trevor’s problem to the police. Would he be considered a hero? Would Trevor stop bullying him? Heidi shrugged and said, “Well, do you need help with your essay?” Caleb nodded. “Of course you do. Come on, let’s print it out.” “I can’t print it. I typed out my essay on Microsoft Word, on my mom’s computer.” “Tsk tsk, never use Microsoft Word. I’ll try to help.” Caleb wanted to say something but changed his mind.
When it was time for science class, Mr. Ramirez got sick, so it was replaced by a free period. After dismissal, Caleb’s eye caught a sight he never thought he would see: Trevor getting hit. Caleb ran over to Trevor right before his dad could hit him again. He grabbed onto the hand and glared at the adult, not caring that he had just passed the line.
