“This is it,” Seth said. “That’s him, the guy who was with Kayla, she’s got to be around here somewhere. She was frolicking about the entire lobby area for most of the time we all stood in line.” A minute past, but the girl was not seen in the video. Then Seth showed up. He got in line behind the gentleman whilst holding a case of beer. He could be seen beginning to look around in the black and white recording, then his head stopped turning and he stared seemingly amused over something. Still no Kayla. “Seth, I don’t see any child,” Rick said as he studied the film. Seth seemed confused, he stared blankly at the small monitor, his eyes darting back and forth in search of any sign of the girl. “I-I don’t understand,” he uttered. “She’s …show more content…
There had to be an explanation, and he was certain to find one, or he was certain to find the girl in the video. “Let’s just keep watching,” Rick said. Another minute rolled off the footage and suddenly, as if unprovoked, one of the dog toys that was just out of frame, a yellow-green tennis ball with a twelve inch brightly colored red ribbon slipped from atop a shelf that it and others like it were stacked upon. The ball could then be seen coming into the frame, its kite-like tail waving vigorously behind it. “There!” Seth snapped emphatically. “There, she dropped the doggy toy.” Rick rewound a bit and then let the footage play forward again. He and Shelia watched intently. The ball with the ribbon bounced into view, then rolled off across the floor, coming to stop after bumping into the base of a display case for batteries. “She did that,” Seth said being adamant. “She dropped that. She must be just out of reach of the frame.” Shelia and Rick looked at each. “Look…” added Seth, “look at the guy. He’s staring right at it. He saw it …show more content…
“It obviously caught his eye, but things fall from the shelves all the time in the store. I remember finding this doggy toy on the floor and picking it back up. I placed it back on the shelf where it belonged myself just as soon as you left the store and I walked out from behind the register to go back to stock duty.” “No, the girl—Kayla—she did that, she’s just out of view of the scene,” Seth declared. Shelia and Rick gave each other yet another worried look seeming unsettled by Seth and the eerie situation he was putting them in. Rick said, “Maybe, we should check the tape of the parking lot? You said this Kayla was running around the lot… if so, we should have definitely caught footage of her out there.” Rick switch the security camera footage on the monitor to the recording of the parking lot. He then commanded the security software to take him to roughly the same time that he’d started the lobby footage. It only took a moment of fast forwarding to catch when the silver coupe pulled up into the lot. The angry guy from the in store footage then got out of the vehicle alone and head off inside. Rick looked at Seth. Shelia just watched the
