Personal Narrative: Feeder Fest

I've never really been a good loser, but then again who is? These past several weeks on the volleyball team have really helped me to recognize the difference between good friends and great friends. My friends are just as extreme when it comes to winning as I am and the ones who are just as crazy as me. Plus the ones who put up with me yelling, screaming my head off, and getting mad at them, and are still friends with me after the games. These are my great friends, the friends that I know I can always count on.

The most fun part of these few weeks had to be the very beginning, Feeder Fest. Feeder Fest is the pre-season tournament done to determine the ranks of the team for the starting season. My team we had won all of our games, and were

I was especially bad at this. Whenever I got mad at someone, I had this tendency to tell them what they did wrong. But I didn't just say it I would yell at them and get in there face in a way that was rude and put them down. I wasn't the only person to do this, but it was still extremely rude of me sometimes and I shouldn't have done it. By the end of the season those amazing friends I was telling you about in the beginning, had helped me break this habit. Plus we did that with several people injured, including me. We may not have played the best game in the world, but we had fun.

It may not sound like being on this team was all that fun, but it really was. Being on this team also told me that I have some truly great friends and now I know and can recognize that they are my true friends. Even through all of our problems we are all still the best of friends. I mean we definitely didn't play the best game, and we certainly didn't have the best attitude, but we had the most fun. I can easily say that is the best team I have ever been

I just want to bring perspective to why I decided to form a team, and why it has been so successful for me and my teammates. In this sport, unless you have lived it yourself, no one else can ever truly appreciate the lows and highs, the sacrifices, the mood swings, the doubts , the fears, the anxiety, the pleasure, the intensity, and the list go on, of what we as competitors go through in preparation for the “big day”! We are in an elite group of people that most do not, and cannot, understand. So, to have a team of girls that truly “get it”, is something that I have grown to love and cherish. It is a sisterhood that supports each other and lift each other up.…

I have played baseball ever since I was a young kid, but somehow, at seventeen I still had numerous struggles with it. You would think after my grandpa being drafted to the Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League baseball team, and my dad getting a full ride to the University of Denver their skill would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. I wasn't terrible, I could hit a 90 mile per hour fastball and I could, for the most part, field a ground ball. However, I was definitely not about to be scouted by the college scouts.…

Five years ago I can say that I was a different person on the golf course. I had a dream of playing college golf and it’s all I could think about. At my country club, there were around seven high school golfers who were all very good. I practiced more than all of them and went to a swing coach twice a month. I practiced everyday, but no matter how hard I practiced, or how much better I got at golf; my tournament scores were always terrible.…
