Personal Narrative: Exploring A Community

She stands alone, with her youth and pregnant glow. Among many, she waits in line to receive her day-to-day meal, my mother explained. Every time we passed by, I would glare through the window looking for her, my heart weighed heavy in my chest. Something was wrong, and something needed to change. I was 8, with little to no resources, but I was child on a mission and I was unstoppable. That summer, I had convinced my neighbours to explore our community, with my one and only wagon, a good cause, and our cute, innocent smiles. After three days we had collected boxes, and boxes of food and donations for the food bank. My mother and I, unloaded the voluminous boxes of food onto the shelves of the bank. Laura, the manager decided to give me a tour, she showed me the store section, where shelves went high with anything from canned goods to toiletries, soon after, the kitchen, which offered numerous …show more content…
I have learned, but not nearly enough. I have met many people, but haven't seen many faces. I have travelled the world, but not the entire world. I speak two languages, but I want to speak more. I want to know all of our history, such as why are we the way we are. I have big dreams, and they will become reality. I want to inspire others, the way I've been inspired. My aspiration in life is to achieve greatness, that my name goes down in history, and that my words never die. Thomas A. All I know for sure is after Secondary School I will attend University, where, I don’t know, but I will. The exciting part is the unknown, all that is unknown is how after school I will change the

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

“Shes coming back right?” a baffled 7 year old asks in response to the appalling news of her mother’s death. A vibrant imagination is accompanied by a crushing pain of reality that trails behind it ; I discovered this when I heard the words “no” . 10 years later, that conversation lingers in my head and holds not a cacophonous nor euphonious sound, but instead holds the neutral tone of reality, an alarm . As routine , at 6a.m., I hear a melodious alarm followed by the pitter-patter of my aunt who is getting ready for work.…

When I grow up, I want to change the world! Changing the world one day would make me feel really good. Three ways I would change the world are: make sure everyone has a shelter to live in; help more lost, sick, and hurt animals, and make sure no one is hungry. I would like to help homeless people have a nice place to stay. When I’m driving downtown I see a lot of homeless people on the streets; dirty, and sad.…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. As human beings, we always hold a place where we feel a sense of belonging and security; I am fortunate to have finally found mine. Since I was a child, my parents taught me that my home was where my biological family resided. However, in ninth grade I perceived something different: I now consider it the place where I feel unconditionally myself. Casa Cristo is that place for me; in this retreat center my soul expresses itself freely. One day, as I was standing in my favorite area of Casa Cristo, fresh breeze caressed my face while provoking a complete connection with my ego.…
