Have you ever done something you did not think you could? I definitely have. It was a windy day at Camp St. Croix. Our councillors woke us up and we went to eat breakfast. We had about 8 people in our cabin not including councillors. Our councillors were Moja and Javier. Moja was from Malaysia and Javier was from Columbia. It was scrambled eggs and sausage to eat with orange juice to drink. After that was over, we went to the morning gathering, sang a few songs, listened to some announcements, and finally got to go back to our cabin. When we got back to the cabin we played gaga ball for a little over an hour and screwed around for the rest of the time. Gaga ball is a game where you get into a pit that is shaped like an octagon and hit a kickball around. The point of the game is not to get hit in the knees down. If you get hit, you are out of …show more content…
It was about a 5 minute walk over to where we were going. When we got there, our councillors left to go grab something. At first I had no idea what were were doing, we were all confused on what we were doing. We were in the middle of the woods with 3 really big poles sticking out of the ground. They were about a foot wide and a half wide and went up quite a ways into the air. The pole was laced with little metal bars which looked like they were used to climb up the pole, which I later found out that I was right. I thought the poles were for electricity or a phone cable. There were two ropes that extended from the first pole to the two others creating a v shape. We were all sitting on a bench talking when our councillors returned with a bag full of something. When we looked in the bag, we were surprised to find a bunch of harnesses. This made me realized that the poles were not for electricity, they were for walking across. Even though I figured this out, I was still confused why there were 2 ropes. I just assumed we were going to walk across

We get to where the starting point of the hike is and we see about five sets of plywood with rope around them. These sets of plywood and rope was the chariot we would use to carry our assigned person to carry. An instructor came over and started to show us how it would work. There would be 4 people at a time, two in the front and two in the back, carrying the chariot with the disabled person in the middle strapped in. At a later point I talked to Jacob; he said that he kept thinking to himself how this would work and worried about the strength of the rope in the middle.…

A minuscule bike path below us meandered through the scrawny meadow grass of the small valley. Cat-ear shaped power lines snaked through the valley, and I could hear the buzz of the electricity emitting from them. In contrast to the pines and other various conifers, I could see a couple of white, snow capped mountains that reached to about 9,000 feet high in elevation. I nodded in agreement and said, “You’re right. Also, can we go down this hill?”…

When I was a child, my parents encouraged me to always be as loving and caring as I could be, not for personal gain, but to be benevolent to the people around me. Sometime, when I was about four, in a small, isolated country kitchen in regional Victoria, my mother noticed that I was taking "funny turns", moments that took me away and into my own world. It took time but eventually the diagnosis came back - welcome to epilepsy. Then, back in the day it was a limiting and defining description; no support groups; little information but much fear; it stalked me through all facets of life, complicating both the serious and the mundane. It changed little things, fell between you and life, little hurdles, like risk; the meds made you nod off in the afternoon; the need to carry medication (got your wallet; got your pills), explanations and reassurances for teachers, coaches and, just when you thought you…
