My Journey to Discovery
When I was younger, I always found myself with a pencil and paper in my hand. I would leave marks on the paper in some form or fashion, whether it be scribbles, repetitive words, my name (or the names of family members), or random sentences that had nothing to do with anything. As I grew older, I would even find myself writing more than enough when it came to essays. I could never bring myself to leave out any details and I rarely used simple sentences. I had already began drawing but before I even started I knew I wanted a change of events. Drawing the same cartoon characters and animals wasn’t as fun anymore because I had done it so much. I scribbled over whatever unfinished drawing I had on the paper and leaned back against my headboard. I listened to the music as I thought of what I should do next. Then it hit me-I was inspired to write lyrics of my own. I quickly flipped to a clean sheet of paper. I lowered the volume on my phone enough for me to hear the music but still concentrate on what I was doing. Nothing was in order so I considered that my next task. The easiest part was choosing the chorus and grouping what needed to be in a verse together. The hard part was deciding which verse I should make my first, my second, and my third. I sat on my bed for about 10 minutes trying to decide on it. I am not a very decisive person. Deciding tends to be very hard for me to do. That’s when I sought help from my mom. I scooched off the bed and made my way into the dining room area where she was solving a Sudoku puzzle. I asked her if she would mind helping me once she was done with her puzzle. She didn’t mind and she happily helped me out. Before we started, we had a quick conversation about what should go where. I took her advice and placed the things in the order she suggested. In the end, I was happy with the results. I thanked my mom and rushed back into my room to write down some more lyrics and arrange everything on my
