On October 23, 2077, I was finally eighteen. The year I graduate high school, the year I can finally do whatever it is I want. I just hope my parents don’t lie about that like they do about everything else. In Sanctuary Hills my brother Damian and I were getting ready to go to a party a few friends of mine were throwing for me at the veterans hall in another town named Cambridge. I went downstairs to remind mom of where we were going and how long we were going to be out. She handed me fifty dollars for whatever we needed, but my dad on the other hand, just sat on his chair drinking away his life while he tried to find a new job on the newspaper ads.

Mom shook her head and said, “be careful.” to us, kissing us on the head.

My brother and I said our goodbyes to our parents before we were off. For some odd reason, mom looked more nervous about us leaving than usual. I still think it is because she lost another

Some Vault Tech people were going into homes and stores and hospitals, getting anyone who needed to be saved. They even had boats to carry people fast across the water. As I’m driving through the bridge, I see men standing by the edge of it, changing into big white suits, already having gas masks on. What is going on?

Suddenly, there’s something gliding through the sky. Damian is looking out the window trying to make out what it is he is seeing. This thing in the sky seems to catch everyone 's attention because they slow their driving. Normally no one would pay attention right now because we’re already seeing U.S jets, but these jets had a weird painting on the sides.

“Syrus.. that’s a German jet.” he says, still looking into the sky.

I begin to drive faster when I see more and more German jets coming through the sky as well as German men parachuting down. Damian notices they have nuclear suits on with masks, as well as

The echo was perhaps strange, though Jonas had to check it out. After all, it was the first sound he heard that didn't involve Gabe whining or him shuddering due to the vast coldness of the winter breeze. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As Jonas and Gabriel tried to keep up to reach the unusual sound that was coming from above, he couldn't help but notice that the planes were starting to come back. All of a sudden, Jonas’s face changes from a light shade of apricot to complete paleness as his eyes glance up the sky. Only to see a banner hanging from the plane, “CHANGE STARTS NOW”.…

Commemoration Destroyed As a twelve year old, a rather normal, everyday twelve year old with big ambitions and an impressive talent for soccer, suddenly no words could be formed or found! How could Jayden convey the depth of his worries upon hearing such terrible news? Like it or not, the new utopian government, which had taken over everything would soon require an act called “mandatory commemoration” of each of its citizens the day after his or her 16th birthday. Forcible commemoration?…

Growing up my parents allowed me to believe I could do anything I want to in life, and I believed them, and I still somewhat do because I have been privileged from birth. I am very grateful because my parents have provided me with encouragement, countless opportunities for traveling, education, and pretty much anything else I could want. I knew I live an incredibly privileged life, but Rigoberta’s story shocked me based on their expectations for the future, which was a lot worse than I thought was possible. On her tenth birthday, Rigoberta learned from her parents that her life would never amount to anything. She said, “They told me I would have many ambitions…

A dilemma that I faced, and still am facing is simply the decision about what I want to do with my life after my high school career. In my freshman year of high school my goal was simply to get through the year in one piece. I was forced to conform to my new environment and all the strict rules that came along with it. Along with that it was the sudden transition from being the "big dogs" as eighth graders at my middle school to being "fresh-meat" in my first year high school. With so much attention placed on me as a freshman like on the varsity basketball team, where I was constantly forced to prove my worth to the coach and the players, to stepping out of my comfort zone and performing in a mandatory play for the rest of the the school as…

I became an adult on Monday, June 15, 2015 during my AP Writing class, standing in the sweltering heat, completing 50% of my term 4 grade. It was a Moth presentation, based on the Moth radio hour. We all had to plan out a story to tell, something personal with a message that would resonate universally. I swallowed my fear and an illusion of pride, looked out at the teenagers I had spent years of classes with and, in short, told them the truth. For those five to seven minutes I let my façade slip…
