My family loves to go camping in our camper. One summer we all came to a decision that it would be fun to try a new campsite; that we had never gone to before. After looking at different sites that are scattered around Iowa, my dad discovered one in the Des Moines area. When we arrived to the site, the campground was vast with trees surrounding the perimeter. The sound of people conversing filled the atmosphere, the birds sung in a high pitched whistle, and the sound of wind rustled within the trees. The pungent odor of smoke filled the air combined with hotdogs, steak, and hamburgers that had been cooking on the searing coals that lay in the metal fire pit. I was excited to try different activities in the area, as well as camp in a new campsite. The late morning was torrid, with moisture still in the air and the sun beating down. …show more content…
This was when we re-apply more sunscreen. There was a cooling sensation when the sunscreen was sprayed on; as if chapstick was applied to chapped lips. My sisters and I started to get hot and began to sweat from remaining outside for three hours in a warm, humid day. I started to complain, “I wish we were back at the camper”. Right when I said this, my mom said, “Look to your right”. I looked over and saw a turkey standing in between two trees. The turkey was silent while we tried to not make any noise to startle it. It was as fat as a yoga ball with red and brown on its feathers. Then we continued our hike. We strolled to the end of the hike in a tranquil atmosphere. Just then, I glanced over and saw a herd of deer. We stood on the trail to admire them since they have never stood so close. They had a beautiful latte brown fur coat. Their eyes were a deep brown with a feeling of awe and terror in them. Before we could say anything, the deer saw us and ran away. All I heard was the rustling of the grass as they made their way through to

Did you know that there are many, many old, valuable traditions that the 7th graders at Camp Tapawingo carry out each year? These traditions take place during the campfire behind the lodge that we ate and slept in. There were two instances where we were using the campfire. They paused suddenly, and I almost collided with a tree. Crouching on my toes, I looked around and soon saw the object of their attention. A young buck with huge velvety antlers was grazing, and the men made gestures to each other, trying to keep silent as they knocked their arrows and took aim.…

So I went outside to help my grandparents shovel the sidewalk and porch, right in front of us is small pasture for our neighbors, Harmstons, horses to roam. My grandfather started to laugh and told me to look over there and we see a buck and a doe mating inside the pasture while the horses minded their own business. I laughed but I thought it was awkward that the horses didn’t do anything like they usually do. Later that night I was up doing one of your last labs and I heard the coyotes outside.…

When we carried them into the “sweat”, my uncle brought water which was poured on the hot lava rocks. The initial feeling was a bit overwhelming, the sudden moist heat of what was a seemingly endless amount of steam in that moment. As minutes passed by, the overwhelming heat got to me and I felt that it might get too hot for me to handle. Then, I suddenly found myself extremely relaxed, despite the intense heat, my lungs filled with hot air as my body adjusted to the heat. Finally, after about 15 minutes or so, my dad brought in a large jar of water for me to cool myself off, despite the water being somewhat warm from being outside, it felt shocking, as if I was taking a cold…

As I walk to the deer stand, I can hear the rustling of the grass behind me as it pops back up after we walk on the grass. I am always paranoid thinking it could be a coyote chasing me, and preparing to bite at my heels. I have always had that fear since my grandpa told me coyotes will run after you through the woods. My dad walks in front of me, so I grasp the glimmering flashlight tightly.…

My family were looking for something we could do in Downtown Sacramento last September 2nd, this year. I searched on Google about events that will happen that Saturday, and I found out about a 3-day SacAnime event at the Sacramento Convention Center. My sixteen-year-old son loves anime shows, so he was ecstatic when I told him about the event, and so did I, as I’ve never been to an event like that. So off we went to the convention. While we were walking toward the convention, we saw hundreds of people everywhere dressed up in costumes with their favorite characters from different shows, series, movies, cartoons and so on.…
