My family were looking for something we could do in Downtown Sacramento last September 2nd, this year. I searched on Google about events that will happen that Saturday, and I found out about a 3-day SacAnime event at the Sacramento Convention Center. My sixteen-year-old son loves anime shows, so he was ecstatic when I told him about the event, and so did I, as I’ve never been to an event like that. So off we went to the convention. While we were walking toward the convention, we saw hundreds of people everywhere dressed up in costumes with their favorite characters from different shows, series, movies, cartoons and so on. I was having a good time looking at their costumes, that I took my camera out and I started taking pictures of them. As we were getting close to the convention, we spotted some guys in …show more content…
Woodwards explains that she’s been cosplaying since 2007. She says that none of her friends at school liked the stuff that she does. She found most of her friends through online and that’s how she got more involved in to cosplaying. She met several of her best friends now online. It also helped her confidence, as she used to feel awkward, ugly, and unwanted by her peers. But when she joined cosplaying, everyone accepted the way she is without judging. Although a lot of cosplayers part take for fun, there are also some who do it for a living. One example is Lindsay Elyse. To me the picture represents a family of friends that love anime, and other stuff to do with anime; that wanted to bring those characters and what they feel about those characters to life in a way that they can relate to: “When I put on my costume, I feel like I look very different from everyone else around me and it makes me feel stronger—I also like the way that people look at me and notice me—it’s good to have admirers. And when I wear the costume with my Cosplay friends at a convention or party, I feel really happy just relaxing, having fun and sharing everything with my Cosplay family. (Rinka, female Cosplayer, Hong Kong)” (Fashion theory, volume 17). The image also means that they are dedicated to the anime that they are cosplaying, and that this is the best way that they could express what they feel about the anime.…

Lisa Granshaw is an expert considering the fact that she is a counselor who wrote the article Investigating the ‘Psychology of Cosplay’. Socializing is not easy for every person for the reason that they suffer anxiety, depression, and other social issues therefore they have to make use of what works for them. Celebrities including Jennifer Aniston and Kristen Bell and even plenty of men put on the outfit for conventions. As a bikini, the outfit sounds perfect for the beach but to wear in a convention with hundreds of people is a different story. Princess Sandy comments “Slave Leia is not for the faint of heart, meaning, be ready to walk around mostly naked” which is asking women and some men to be open with their bodies. Different people cosplay for different reasons some like MdmeLibrarian “I love the attention,” and some people like Kierat say “I had fantasies about being able to dress up as my favourite characters” and even people like Nynes do it “Because I like the technical challenge of bringing beautiful artwork off the page/screen to the real world.” Slave Leia cosplayers do it for their own reasons but still make it to the same goal of being proud of themselves.…

Often, women walk down the beauty aisle of a department and grocery stores and see all types of merchandise for their hair, but not many know what the products are right for them. They see products that promise to rejuvenate dry, damaged hair; volumize limp, flat hair; straighten curly hair, and regenerate thinning hair. With my hair being a kinky curl, when I was younger, I would ask my mother if we could buy relaxers and apply them at home. She would give me the same answer every time, “This should only be performed by a professional if you do not want to ruin your hair.”…

It was only noon, and by now Noah was sure that he had gathered over a hundred photos of the visitors to the convention. Of course, not to mention the embarrassment of going to a comic con in handmade costumes of our favorite super hero or TV show character. Nowadays, we see a lot more geek culture and it’s become a cool, social aspect to embrace that quirky side of being a geek.
