I think car wrecks are the scariest situations to be in and you don’t know if you’re going to make it out alive or not. And in my situation, after the car wreck and getting into a car again, it not only helped me overcome my fear but has taught me some life lessons. I would have to say it was life changing and after it happened I had a new outlook on life.

We picked up some Taco Bell and headed back home. We were on the interstate, I had my baja blast freeze in my hand, and my friend said “Hey Kelsie can I switch lanes?” I looked back to see a bunch of head lights, before I even answered the question, my friend over corrected the car and she lost control of the car. The car went back and forth swerving about four times, until we spun half way into the median of the road, in that moment I didn’t think I was going to see another day, I screamed “Jesus” as we spun. It didn’t affect my sister like it affected me, she laughed about it. I had never gotten in a wreck and I was terrified. On the way back home, I started crying and thinking about what would’ve happened if I died, wondered what would’ve happened if the car rolled because I was not wearing a seatbelt. I didn’t know if I would’ve made it to heaven. My mom called and asked “Are you almost home?” all I did was calmly say yes and she immediately knew something was wrong and I was upset. I know my children and when somethings wrong” I said “I’ll tell you when I get home.” We got off the phone and I still continued to cry, so my sister crawled to the backseat to try to comfort me, and as everyone does, told me everything was going to be okay. It didn’t help much, I was ready to get home and out of the

I never thought it could happen to me, until it did. What was supposed to be a normal Saturday evening turned into what I can only imagine would be my mother’s biggest nightmare and would cause me more pain than just a few bruises. Everyone describes moments like these as being slowed down, but for me everything seemed to be going at super speed. I don’t really remember rolling, all I can remember is losing control on the loose gravel and the initial impact of my body being slammed against the driver side door and then watching the dust settle. The little things that I can remember seem almost insignificant looking back on it now: how my rear view mirror was tilted up at an odd angle, how I could not get my key out of the ignition, and how I could not open my door all the way.…
