I believe in the magic of childhood. Anything can be real to you as a child. Whenever I was told something as a child such as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy I would always believe it. The first time that I learned about the Tooth Fairy was when I was five. I was eating a lollipop and I bit down on it and a tooth fell out of my mouth. I thought that I was going to have to go to the hospital to have my tooth put back in. When I went to go tell my mom what had happened, she told me that it was normal for kids baby teeth to fall out and new adult teeth would replace the old ones as I got older. She also explained to me that you could only lose each tooth once. So I shouldn’t try to get them out or I would have a missing tooth for the rest of my life. …show more content…
I decided to try and make my other teeth fall out. Despite my mom telling me that they would come out later, I wanted to have money, so I pulled and twisted to get my other teeth to come out. I somehow painfully got another tooth to come out. It was bleeding pretty bad and it also hurt a lot, so I just decided to let them fall out on their own and take the two dollars from the other two teeth. That night, I put my two teeth under my pillow and fell asleep. In the morning under my pillow there were two dollar bills I was super excited, because that was the most money I had ever had at one time. I took it to the money to the store and bought a toy that I had been wanting to buy. The next day, I felt another tooth getting loose, I was going to pull it out but then remembered how much it had hurt to pull out a tooth that wasn’t ready to fall out. I waited for that one to fall out on its own. It fell out about 5 days later and I got another dollar. This time I wanted to save my dollar instead of spending it right away. This story about the tooth fairy has helped me realize how important the magic of childhood is, and how childhood shapes us to who we are when we are

1.Gorilla, My Love: Do you find the children's reaction to the religious movie somehow irreligious or even blasphemous? How is the fact that the narrator and her companions are children relevant to this question? Can we discern anything about the narrator's religious convictions from this story? I had plenty of things to be excited about the night of May 12, I was leaving to Ethiopia the next day, I had just received a new Barbie doll, and when my grandchildren ask if I had any "back in the day" stories I could tell them that I once sliced my palm, to cover up for the fact that I have absolutely no horrible struggle stories as a child. A couple of friends came over that night and all of us kids were upstairs playing. For some reason, I was in my closet (maybe I was looking for something) and I found a gold, circular object. Little did I know it was a blade, I picked it up squeezed it in my palm and ran downstairs to show my parents.…

I have not re-read fairy tales a long time, so I had forgotten most of them. Not Your Mother's Goose was a great reminder with a twist. These are modern versions of fairy tales. You may want to read them when you've tired telling Cinderella to your kids before bed every evening, want a laugh or you are just a bitter, bitter person tired of sugary stuff. It is not a mere funny retelling of fairy tales, it's often a satire of modern word.…

Remember the last time you were at a casino and you heard all that yelling at the craps table and wondered “what are they yelling about”, but you never ventured over there because you are too intimidated by craps. You’re not the only one. I used to watch from a distance trying to figure out what was going on, people were throwing chips everywhere yelling all sorts of crazy jargon (“press”, “same bet”, “hard 8”, “odds”) all while the dealers are moving chips all over the place paying people and taking other people’s money. What a crazy and intimidating game.…
