I realized this because I play water polo and in water polo you never stop treading water, never. The day was Friday Oct, 9 the day I played for the longest time in water polo. 3rd quarter was ending and I was waiting to go back into the game with so much energy. BUZZ! The quarter ended then I hear my coach’s voice saying, “Veronica! Go in for Becky!” Quickly I jump into the 17 feet pool and float up. I line up against the pool wall and waited for the referee to blow his whistle. I look to the right and see the rest of my team lined up horizontally next to me with their heads back, they look ready and I was ready. The whistle blew and we all sprinted to the middle see who got the ball it was Missions’ ball so quickly I swam to play defense. The water was up to my chin and my legs were already aching with pain. Yet I didn’t stop playing. The girl who I was defended got the ball #21 every one was yelling my name to make sure I don’t let her shoot. I blocked it and quickly went to the other side to play offense. The girl comes towards me angry. She grabs my swimsuit and started drowning

A girl no older than seven was struggling to reach the edge of the pool, gasping for air. I felt myself freeze for a moment as I tried to comprehend what was happening but somehow, maybe by instinct, I found myself shoving my whistle in my mouth. It made a noise that was barely audible but it was too late for me to try again. I lept off my chair and landed in the pool, about as gracefully as Bambi on ice, but honestly I was surprised I managed even that. Hitting the water was like a kick start that sent me into fast forward.…
