I am a Clinical therapist at an agency called Community Connections for Life, Inc., located in Miami Gardens and Belle Glade, Florida. CCFL is a Community Behavioral Mental Health agency. The CCFl team is committed to provide services to clients who have been diagnosed with dual-diagnosis, substance use, and extensive history of trauma i.e. Childhood abuse, incarceration and/or impoverishment. This agency also has several other programs assist various populations within the community. For example, PSR is a psychosocial rehabilitation program that accommodates clients who have been diagnosed with mental health illnesses and/or substance use. These clients are engaged in a verity of topics i.e. their mental illness diagnosis, medication …show more content…
The youth is placed in aged appropriate group and engaged in topics that will help them understand their diagnosis, purpose of medication adherence, police relations coping techniques, anger management, stress and depression reduction. All clients are provided transportation to and from work or home, free of charge. CCFL provided breakfast and lunch to PSR client and lunch and 2 nutritious snacks to y- prep clients. My duties are to provide individual session to assigned caseload, which includes Biopsychosocial, developing treatment plans with the client (s), behavioral contract, progress notes and recommendations for additional services, if needed. In addition, I facilitate the PSR group at both the Miami Gardens and Belle Glade office. Moreover, I provide individual session to person and families in the Belle Glade/Pahokee Florida area. In the y-prep program my role is primarily the interventionist; however, I also co-facilitate, if needed. My career has allowed me to interact with diverse culture and social economic status, who has one thing in common that all have been expose to trauma in one form to the next.
