I sat in my seat silently as I watched the clouds bounce pass the small airplane window. I sighed in relief as I heard the pilot finally announce that we were landing in the John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York City. The whole atmosphere was so new to me. I finally got of the crowded plane and grabbed my bags from the baggage claim and made my way outside. I saw plenty of people looking my way, and It made me oddly nervous, especially after what I heard about the city. I held my bags tight and continued moving. Soon enough I found myself on a taxi, driving to my new home for the next four years, Colgate University. I got a full scholarship here for hockey as well as academics. It's a private school in central New York State. …show more content…
I stayed quiet, which was new for me, America was so big and different from home. The seasons changed at different times, and everyone talks about food here, they drive on the wrong side of the road and they all say things weird. I guarantee they think the same about me. I made my way up to my dorm. I was only a freshman, so I recieved a simple dorm in the eastern hall, and that's when I met my roommate. I stood in the doorway for quite sometime, taking in the environment and how long my day seemed. I feel like I made my roommate feel more awkward than he did in the first place, but I could care less. I just wanted to rest after my day on the plane.
