My goal was to get better than a C, which I had all four years in high school. It was not because of my writing skills I got a C it was partly due to my engagement and my enthusiasm my teachers like about me. This year had to be different. I believe it was because the right teacher knew how to reach into me and pull the best out of me. With the end of the semester here, I am looking …show more content…
I could no longer do the one size fits all. Some of the papers required more work and thought to be put into it. While others, I was just analyzing and putting my thoughts about the subject. For example, I learned for the advertisement to use emotional appeals like ethos, pathos, and logos. This help me greatly in that paper. It allowed me to form an emotional argument that leaded many to consider the effects of drinking and driving, while being professional. Another example of learning a new strategy for each genre would be for the argument synthesis. The strategy which was use was to have hours of research behind. The research not only help me form my own opinion, but it allowed me to present facts and convince others in an educational way. When, I speak on the topic I am not some random person stating my opinion, but some one of credibility. The sources I used were scholarly and accredit for the argument synthesis which had great effects on convincing people. Next, I did to run into some bumps in the road. For example the rhetorical analysis was the hardest for me. It was the toughest for many reason. I could not get myself interested into the topic. With the lack of self interest it was torturous to try to push through. Also, timing played a role. At that point of the semester, I was already mentally exhausted like many others. When I first signed up for the fall semester course English 101, I did not think much of it at first. I Simply thought it would be another writing course with boring prompts and no challenge similar to high school, but I was wrong. In this semester alone I learned more about writing mechanics, structure, heading, organizing and sourcing than I had previously in my high school career. This being said I was not prepared for this course and did not earn the grades I wanted, but I learned from all my mistakes as I wrote each paper it became slightly better. I feel that high school does not do an adequate job at preparing you for the difficulty and challenge that is created in this environment.…

On May 12, 2018 at approximately 0224 hours, I observed a Blue 2007 van bearing Florida tag 4459GC leaving the Grand BLV Motel, located at 7804 Grand BLV Port Richey, FL. An NCIC / FCIC check of the attached tag revealed it to not be assigned to a vehicle. The vehicle had been observed parked in front of the Grand BLV Motel for approximately thirty to forty minutes with a W/F seated in the front passenger seat. The Port Richey Police Department has received information from multiple sources and reveived multiple complaints about the sell / use of illegal narcotics at the Grand BLV Motel. Officer D. Peal confirmed Florida tag 4459GC was not assigned to a vehicle with dispatch.…

Walking through the gym I heard “Bailey, come here!” with a confused look, I glanced up and it was coach Taylor, “Meet in my office!” she yelled. Rushing as quickly as I could, my mind began wondering in a million desperate directions. I was beginning to think what I had done the past few weeks, hoping I was remembering correctly because from what I knew I was in the clear.…

The house was silent, Mrs. Taylor was at church and I was all by myself, I walked towards my office, the floorboards creaking as I moved. I loved it when the house was empty, it left me to contemplate the week and read some of Bob Taylor’s writings. I reached the end of the hallway and twisted the great brass knob and walked into my study. It was a cold night but soon after I picked up my book I got lost in the deep metaphors of Bob Taylor. I was abruptly pulled out of my thinking when I heard Ann scratching at the door “Hush” I said to my dog.…

My father was lecturing me about how I was forgetful, how I couldn’t pay attention and how my concentration was lacking. I knew I had a condition called ADD, and that my family loved me, but my father didn’t have to jackhammer my flaws into my brain all the time. This happened often, and he said these things knowing full well about how badly I felt of myself. “A slow worker,” “You can’t keep up,” “You have to rely on others.” Those were all the statements he said to me.…

As I was laying in bed hugging my teddy bear looking up at the wall, I continue listening to the music echoing from outside my room. It was 8’ o'clock and even though I was already tired, the need for staying up stayed with me. I stare and see the big wooden door wondering why I had to go to sleep while everyone was awake. “Sure I was being mean and started crying, but I want to listen to music! I want to party!…

At the beginning of the English Composition course, I was nervous and terrified that I would fail. That fear only seemed to escalate as I struggled with creating my thesis statements, using citations, and making my topics clear. However, I am now able to much more than I was able to do in the past, this includes identifying my strengths and weaknesses. For instance, I have found that I am better at writing descriptive papers than argumentative papers. This college course has definitely helped me improve my overall writing.…

Even so, I was very misguided in the mindset of the work I had to do in college coming to school. It is not supposed to be easy, as nothing in life is. Even though the grade was upsetting at first, it provided me with a spark. I pushed myself harder, harder than I ever had to work. I spent countless numbers of hours on the following papers, drafting, writing, and editing in an endless cycle.…

I feel like I’ve gotten better at making it interesting.…
