The ball is hit over harder than expected, but my cousin pops the ball up enough so I can get to the it in time. I set up a perfect hit, the ball moves so fast to the Earth nobody can reach it, as the it hits the Earth we all cheer and jump for joy for it is us who has the upper hand in this match. Leading up to this event of sweat, determination and fun is the Latterell Olympics, a crazy invention made by yours truly the Latterell family, the Olympics is not necessarily testing your strength, but more of agility and the will to win the big prize. The first event we do is the easiest one, the cookie sliding down your face into your mouth. In every Olympic event you have to have a partner I choose Deanna because she is very athletic and …show more content…
As my Aunt tells us to go we automatically put the cookie on our four heads then shimmy and shake them down to our mouths. The older cousins and siblings have the advantage in this game, because they have been doing this for years. First to finish is my older brother and my younger brother, surprised and now pressured everyone scrambles to get second place. We are now on our last cookie as Deanna works and slides it down her face we hear another scream claiming they were done and saying they got second, as I took my eyes away for a moment Deanna yells with a mouth full of cookie “Done!” the slightly muffled sound made me jump in excitement and raise my hand. Third place isn’t bad for a first timer in this competition. While we wait for everyone else to get their cookie down their throats, we go get some water from the cooler in the back of my dad’s truck, and while we are there we eat some chips too and talk about how fun it is up here and guessing what the next event is. We walk back ready for the next …show more content…
Deanna goes to get the baby food and I pick a spot to sit. The same Aunt tells us the rules and we all complain in disgust as she rambles on about not using your hands . We all wait for her to tell us so start eating the gross, luke-warm baby food. As soon as she says go everybody starts suckign and slurping thier mush. Deanna puts a big spoon full of green beans and peas in my mouth and my gag reflexes were in check that day. She tries to put another spoon full in, but I just do what babies do when they don’t like food they are given, I take my head away and avoid all the spoon fulls Deanna tries to shove in my mouth. We come in eighth that round, but not last surprisingly. After everyone catches their breath we all need a break from gagging and eating things we don’t want to eat, so a five minute break is called out and everyone scrambles for a drink to get the gross taste out of their

My Cross Country/Track coach is one of the best men I know. He not only betters his runners by teaching us, but he also runs with us. Pushing us to greatness with words of encouragement, he implores us to leave all energy on the course/track and teaches us to be exceptional people outside of running. He expresses to us that no matter what we do, he will always be proud of each member of the team; therefore, our actions can’t change his love for us. That’s why it was devastating when he told us before the past track season, that he would not be able to coach for the remainder of the running season from February until we initiated winter conditioning November.…

There are several experiences in my life where I have felt that I was treated in an unfair manner, but the most recent of those experiences is the one that occurred to me only months prior to this application. Up until the beginning of November of this year, I used to believe that being a great and successful student would be the most rewarding accomplishment of my senior high career. As a result of this, I unwisely assumed that the most important thing in my life was how well I could do on the next test. I spent a meager amount of my time involved in anything else aside from my homework or studying; expecting to be fairly remunerated for a majority of my hard work. Earlier this year, I was indeed rewarded with an application to National Honors…

It was my senior year of basketball and it was just getting started. This was it, my final year where we were going to win State and I was going to get a college scholarship. I had prepared all summer and in the preseason, nothing was going to get in my way. Our team was smaller this year and lacked the skill we had in the previous years, but that just meant I was going to have to step up even more. I was totally ready for the season and whatever challenges we would face as a team.…
