Why I Chose To Go To Law School

Ever since I was six years old I knew that I wanted to become an attorney and that it would take many years of schooling. At this young age, I did not have a clue what an attorney did. All I saw was that the attorney would go to court and argue with a man. Some school days were rough. My parents both immigrants, with no education, could not help me with simple school work. I was mad and embarrassed because I felt like I did not have any support. Regardless, of their background my parents instilled in me the value of an education, always wanting the best for me. I continued with my school work and my dream of becoming an attorney. Some days, that dream seemed far away and almost impossible. I would constantly think “Am I smart enough to go to law school?” “Am I good enough for law school?” I did the best I could on my educational choices. I have always known that I am going to go to law school; I just did not know when or how that would happen. I became tired of the same routine, the same people, and the same job. An overwhelming sensation of hopelessness consumed me. One day, I decided to do something to make my dream of law school achievable. I picked up everything I owned and drove to Arizona. The state of Arizona makes law school flexible. I need a program that will allow me to continue to work, while attending school. Leaving New Mexico to follow my dream was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I left everything; my job, my friends and family. I left New Mexico feeling defeated and promised myself that I would not return until I had accomplished my goal. As I was driving to Arizona, I was nervous, scared, and uncertain of what was to come. When I arrived in this state; I had no job, no car, and no house; I only had a dream. Thankfully now; I am employed, have a car, and a home. The state of Arizona has been very good to
