Wasn't it just the same routine over and over again, as if it were just a rewind machine that some unknown being was controlling, watching emotionlessly as people lost their loved ones, then hit the rewind button again.

The gift that his parents bought for him jointly is the most cliche and typical gift he could receive. Yet he still loved it, because it was a gift that he knew his parents spent hours choosing. It wasn't a particularly expensive or a watch with a famous brand name, but the fact that it was from his parents was already enough.
In fact, one of his most unforgettable gifts was probably the one that he threw a tantrum on - a remote control toy car that was all the heat at his age.
That was his tenth birthday, and all of his classmates had shown their cars off at school. Kicking off his slippers, he put his cup back down in his sink and walked into his study, knowing that it's probably time to start working on his presentation due tomorrow.
