Personal Narrative Essay: Tori's Stereotypes

Suburban life had never been so boring, Tori thought, flicking up the volume on the TV in hopes of drowning out her parents squabble. She was pretty sure they’d been at it at least 15 minutes; which was, in her opinion, 15 minutes too long to spend arguing over which type of wine and cheese to take to the get together tonight. “Tori, turn down the TV you’re going to go deaf!” Her mother called over the cacophony in the house. Tori rolled her eyes a little but turned it down for a minute before turning the tv off completely. She sighed as she pushed herself up from the couch and headed down the hallway to her room. Thankfully she didn’t have to go with them tonight, dinner parties were always full of adults and occasionally small children who she was forced to babysit. All in all, between her awkward demeanor and most of the adult’s lack of ability to talk to teenagers meant a lot of time sitting on a couch watching whatever someone had left on, sometimes a late night talk show, sometimes the news; at the very least she always left the house with more information about the world or celebrities than when she arrived. …show more content…
It only took a second to notice that her window was open.
