On Sunday, February 26, 2017, at around 11:24 pm, I, Sergeant Bever was parked at the Circle K gas station at Highway 90 and Highway 57. A person approached me and informed me that a red truck had been stopped at the intersection for a long period of time. I drove to the intersection and found a red Chevrolet Silverado (MS Tag: JK7 733) stopped in the left northbound lane.
I got out of my vehicle and approached the truck. I found a black male later identified as Demario Coleman (DOB 5/18/1988) sitting in the drivers seat passed out. I had to knock on the window a couple of times to wake him up and had to order him more than once to exit the vehicle. Officer Parker stood by him while I searched his vehicle. Inside the vehicle I found a clear plastic bag containing marijuana in a compartment in the dash below the radio. Next to the marijuana was a clear plastic bag containing a white powder that resembled cocaine. The substance was field tested and it was positive for the presence of cocaine. The cocaine and bag weighed 2.3 grams. The on-call MET agent was notified and a request was made for a detention hold to be placed on Coleman for them.
