What haunted me for thirteen years, turned into my dream that day. I felt guilty for being the cause behind her agonizing condition and was desperately looking around that small clinic for someone to do something, may be a miracle to relieve her pain. My inner self bifurcated and indecisive; one wanted to run far away from home of misery while the other entangled in the love of my sister would not allow me to budge. With excruciating pain in her wrist, my little sister was crying inconsolably. Finally, a doctor arrived and attended her, his touch acted as a magic spell and in few seconds she stopped weeping. I was overwhelmed and taken aback by his professionalism; and seeing her becalmed eventually by his affection. My all those hallucinations …show more content…
I enjoyed differential equations and treatment theories. The art of taking a thorough medical history, meticulous physical examination and obtaining appropriate diagnostic tools, and ruling out conditions one by one to arrive at a final diagnosis in Internal Medicine was exhilarating for me. I always rejoiced solving puzzles. Similarly, Internal Medicine may also seem mysterious and complex at first, but it is extremely logical when one delves deep. I believe that solutions aren 't made only of numbers and spreadsheets, but in human connections and relationships as well, that I observed myself many years ago. The privilege of developing a bond and connection with my patients is sacred to me, and I cherish their trust in …show more content…
I was impressed by the skills of the US trained physicians practicing evidence-based medicine. The best part was their ability to communicate with their patients and manage them according to their values. Their knowledge when combined with modesty, inspired me to pursue post-graduate training in the USA. It is here, where the state of the art health facilities provide the best healthcare in the world. Required expenses were a big hurdle in the way to carve my dreams into a physical existence but, Fortunately, I was selected by our North American Alumni Organization to receive a scholarship on the basis of my academic achievements. I have had the opportunity to do clinical rotations and witness the dynamics of the healthcare provided in the USA. I will never forget a patient with his heart in his pocket – a VAD and many other patients with whom I interacted. Leading such a clinic has shown me first-hand how patients are more than just number and statistics but rather individuals who are unique and require treatment in a unique manner rather than being processed. The clinic has taught me to adjust to the unique individuals and provide them the proper information and care that is as unique as the patient. The clinics environment also taught me to be a better listener. Through the immense number of dialogue that I have translated in a situation where many are conversing, I became a better listener. I also through helping such a vast number of individuals, I was also able to form an environment that promotes a sense of security and trust that allows the patient to open up so the caregivers can provide the proper care and information to promote their health.…

    1) Briefly describe your exposure to medicine As the daughter of a pediatrician, the medical field has surrounded me my entire life. However, my familiarity with the details of medicine expanded at age 15 when I began to volunteer at the C.A.R.E. Clinic, which provides medical care for the uninsured. In college, I explored medicine by volunteering in the emergency department at Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota in St. Paul and participated in a Global Medical Brigades trip to rural Honduras.…

My desire to provide comfort and happiness to others comes from my father. As a leader of a small community, I always noticed him to be actively involved in social work for the community and serving those in need of help. I learned from him about how to make the real difference in the poor people 's life by best possible use of resources and being down to earth at the same time. Additionally, I belong to a family of poets where one needs to use all of the creative powers to write even a single poem, and one doesn 't ask for help unless he has tried it by himself.
