Personal Narrative Essay: The Life Of Middle School

According to Zooey Deschanel, nothing can be as hard as middle school. I was a tremendous scaredy cat when I started middle school in 5th grade. My guts were flipping and flopping on that first day. Even though I didn’t know any teachers or friends, I made new friends and met new teachers. I had Mrs. Wherley as a homeroom teacher, she was nice as pie to me. I liked how we could move around to classes instead of staying in one class for the whole day. The first few days I felt like I was part of a cattle drive and I was a little cow.

The next year, I was now a 6th grader. I had Mr. Bayer as my homeroom teacher, he is so good-humored. I liked how he would dress frivolous, it would always make me laugh. That year we did not have a social studies

I was so glad I was a 7th grader because now I get to play sports and get 45 mins of PE! I ran cross-country, track and was the 7th and 8th grade volleyball manager that year. That year in cross-country, I wasn’t that fast. I kept on getting around 15-16 minutes in my races, but I did get on the varsity team a few times. Our team made it to sectionals, but we didn’t advance as a team. We were all very disappointed and a little sad. It was the end of the season for me. Even though we didn’t make it as a team, Alexi Fogo made it as an individual to the state meet, we were proud of her. In track I ran the 1 mile and the 4x400m relay. In the 1 mile you must run 4 laps around the track. My mile time was around 6:40. For the 4x400m relay we kept on getting around 5:00. I made it to the Sectional meet in both events. I did not make it to the state meet in the 1 mile, my time was 6:30. I was pretty excited, that was my fastest time that year. Although I didn’t go to state in the 1 mile, we tried in the 4x400m. Sadly, we didn’t go to the state meet. That year I also was the volleyball manager. My job was to help everyone on the team. We won regional round and then went to the state finals. We won the state finals for the 7th grade! The high school girls volleyball and the 7th grade volleyball team won their state championships! We were state champions in the same year, we were the lucky …show more content…
I am now in 8th grade. My homeroom teacher is Mr. Troutt. In 8th grade the teachers seem very hard, they are a lot different than 7th grade teachers. Since we are the “top dogs” of the school, we must be examples to all the kids in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade. I am in cross-country right now, I am the top runner right now on the varsity team. I hope I can get a little faster before the end of the year. We have a small team this year, only have 10 girls. I am planning to run track in the spring, but I hope I can do more events than just the 1 mile and the 4x400m relay. I am surprised how fast middle school has gone by. We are going to be in high school in less than a year! Now, just thinking about it, I am a little nervous. My guts are flipping and flopping if I think about it, just like 5th grade. I better just block it out, or better yet, I just need to find a time machine and skip some of

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling. As a sport, it was entirely new to me. It had previously only been a staged festival of well-muscled actors. Now, I faced it as a challenge. I was entering a field of athletes that had been learning pins since their infancy, and I felt that immediately. I faced impossible match-ups not only…

Freshman year of high school is scary for anyone, the enormous transition from being a top dog at middle school, back to an underclassman; wondering if your high school teachers will be as unforgiving as your 8th grade teacher’s descriptions, or even just that uncertainty that comes along with any major change. As a homeschooler entering school system for the first time, and having completely skipped 8th grade, it was terrifying. I had no idea what to expect, I worried about being behind the other students, or having missed something in my homeschooling curriculum, even interacting with other kids was all unfamiliar. It definitely didn’t help that, at 13, I was the youngest person in the building.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…

When I was in middle school I never really took any photos on a digital camera so I don’t have a lot of photos where I can look at and just talk about them but in my head I can go back to when I was thirteen years old starting middle school. In my head I can go back and see everything and go back to that journey. Why thirteen?…

As I walked through the front doors of Allentown Central Catholic High School, I felt a sudden rush of panic. Everything I had once seen and had once been familiar with in middle school quickly vanished into thin air. I was terrified, not because I thought I was going to get lost, but because I knew that every little quiz I took, every little paper I wrote, and every exam I labored over would now count toward my ultimate goal of getting into a prestigious university. I wasn’t scared of new faces, but rather new beginnings and experiences. High school also intimidated me as I made the transformation from “big man on campus” in eighth grade to a young and vulnerable 9th graders. The thought of having new teachers, described by some upperclassmen as “brutal” was also overwhelming. Overall, I had no clue what to expect. My middle school teachers always warned us, “In high school, you are on your own and there is no cushion. Teachers will not hold your hands and help you through every little thing.” I found these statements mostly true. Teachers expected us to have responsibility for our work and actions—a completely different concept compared to middle school. After the first…

“Beep Beep, Beep Beep, Beep Beep”. It was the first day of 8th grade and my brothers first day of middle school so I woke up my brother because I was so excited. I went to my closet thinking of what outfit I should wear. So I put on the first one “Freddy, do you think this dress looks cute” I asked “No! Why are you going to wear a dress to school” Freddy yelled. “Yeah ok I don't want people thinking i'm a show off or anything, but first of all better for you to stop yelling at me or the way I will...ok”. Anyways I still ended up wearing that dress and it was time for us to go so I woke up my mom so she could come with us to school. I told Freddy to call daddy and see if he is on his way, we were outside when I told my mom that daddy was picking…

Fourth through sixth grade I was the top of the class. I attended Lincoln Elementary and Forest Park Middle School. Elementary for me was easy except learning my multiplication and division facts was a huge struggle. I had many friends fourth and fifth grade year. I was also in a girls scout group called nature girls. After fifth grade was when i realized I was too old for it and dropped it. Nature girls was fun and exciting it brung me closer to a group of different culture girls. We went on hikes, bike rides, swimming, and camping we did everything together. My sixth grade year was not the best for me. It was hard making friends and being outgoing I was still learning to develop and become less immature and more mature all the other kids…

When I first started high school Freshman year was kind of a struggle for me. I wasn't taking things as serious as I should have. The transition from middle school to high school was distracting and overwhelming with a much bigger social scene. Sophomore year was my roughest year of high school. My granddad has a stroke and passed away after a long hospital stay. In addition to my hurt and pain I was struggling with Geometry and Chemistry I never gave up and I always came to school early/late for additional tutoring from my teachers and peers. Junior year was much better for me, maybe because I was more mature and had been give more responsibilities. I realized how important it was going to school and maintaining a good GPA. As a result…

No longer the babies of Ridgway Middle School. This year was a lot easier for me because I was now used to the new environment and scheduling. I had a couple more teachers during the school year and they were Mr.Spezzano, Mrs.Loringer, Mrs.Fontana, and I even had Mrs.Ramm again for she moved up from a fifth grade social studies teacher to a sixth grade social studies teacher. Mr.Spezzano was one of my favorites out of this group because he was so laid back, fun, and barely gave us any homework! Anyways, I remember a lot more from this grade than fifth grade and let me tell you, these years were a lot more eventful. During sixth grade, I had to great opportunity to go to one of my soon to be favorite field trips; Camp Ockanickon. It was a three day two night trip which consisted of a numerous of activities to choose from including fishing and canoeing. I made so many great memories from this trip, and I would have to say that this was my all time favorite trip. Another event that happened in sixth grade was our Egyptian project in Mrs. Fontana’s class. We were learning about ancient Egypt and the mummification process which resulted in us recreating the steps for our fellow classmates. I remember we had to choose a partner, select a step in the process, and study it. We then got a life-size dummy which our class “mummified it”. This project was one of my favorite projects in Ridgway. As you can obviously tell, sixth may have been my most eventful year in Ridgway Middle…

In the summer before my first year of middle school, my family and I packed our bags and relocated in central Ohio, an urban area that I grew up knowing but never understood much about. Moving from my hometown in the country was difficult for me since I’ve grown close and comfortable with my life there, and the thought of leaving it was frightening. Nevertheless, my stubborn opinions soon alternated once I started school in the fine suburban area called Dublin.…

The beginning of 10th grade is an exciting time for any student. You’re a grade closer to graduating and you’re no longer the new group to the school, right? Not in Hobbs, Nm. I have never lived in a town where 9th-grade freshman have a totally separate school until I moved here. So when the time came and freshman school finished I felt like I was going to be a freshman all over again my sophomore year. I dreaded having to introduce myself to the whole class like most teachers make you do on the first day of school to become familiar with the rest of your peers. Though most kids have different fears on the first day everyone hides those feelings with a smile and eventually they don’t get nervous about school. I, on the other hand, have always had a hard time with school, but then I walked into my last class of the day. Mrs. Turner was my 10th grade English teacher and was my safe haven while I was at Hobbs high for the next three years.…
