The last week of summer and that night I just couldn’t go to sleep. I started counting down numbers from thirty to zero and the next second I fall asleep. The next morning “Khushbu wake up!!” my mom calling me. I woke up suddenly thinking it is just a dream but realized it is the reality that my life changed when my mom told me that we are moving to Edison in my sophomore year. Everyday I would always be stressful about my life but now my whole world will change. I got so tensed worrying that after my freshman year, my friend, school, and classes will change briskly. When the stress started to stack and build up to the level where I could not take it anymore, I lost interest in school and grades. Everyday, when I came home from school, I would always find myself tired and restless of school and the burden that I am all by myself in this. In this course I flourished bad habits such as doing my homework at the last-minute or not going to bed on time. My parents would invariably give me long lectures about their past and how difficult their life had been back when they lived in India. Telling me that you have to make a schedule to help you get through this time period. …show more content…
In the beginning of the year when I came to school, teachers would always tell stories about the successful students they had in their class. I loved to hear stories about their past students and how they helped shape them to be the best they could aspire to be. It made me think about my past and all the mistakes I had made. Montana, the state where winter seems to never go away and spring seems to be only a few weeks and suddenly it is summer and seems even when naked your body is boiling and no matter the amount of ice filled cold water you can’t stay cool enough. Don’t get me wrong I love winters and wouldn’t trade Montana winters for anything in the world but at the same I also am an individual whose moods are highly dependent on the weather and so when the cloudy skies and freezing cold temperatures finally leave I feel like I have been reborn just like a phoenix rising from the ashes. I know spring has finally arrived and my mood will be a great one when I wake up and not only feel the sun’s ray warm my face, which even with the shades down have found a way to creep into the room, and hear the heavenly notes “chick a dee chick a dee” the cute small songbird has left his tree cavity and gladly is outside chirping away letting all and any alike that no longer do they have to savage and enjoy the freshly ripe nuts, fruits, and insects all around them.…

Sun shining overhead, the sound of waves gently rushing ashore, the slightly salty smell of the ocean, and the feel of my toes in the sand – this was what I had been anxiously awaiting for weeks. Spring break in Florida was an amazing seven days! Since my parents retired and bought a house in Florida, they have been spending their winters soaking up the sun, while the rest of us stay here in Kansas and suffer through the long, cold, dreary season. This year my kids and I were able to visit over spring break so we had a chance to enjoy the amazing weather and sites for ourselves.…

Spring Break 2014… Helmand Province Afghanistan. A heat comparable to the feeling of opening a hot oven, blisters two Marines as they talk to pass time during their patrol. “Yo Webb, what are you doing when you get out of this shithole country and ‘EAS’ (end of active service)?” asked one, “Well, gonna use my GI Bill, live that college life and make something better of myself…” replied the other Marine as an explosion goes off interrupting them. What is free is not free, someone out there, somewhere, fought for it one way or another.…

I look forward to specific time of year, every year, summertime. There's many reasons why I look forward to it, the summer nights with my friends, being able to walk outside without layers of clothing, and being able to actually enjoy my time outside without freezing to death. However, there is one main reason I look forward to summertime, EDC. EDC is a carnival/concert that occurs every year. It always varies venues but for the past three years, Vegas has been its home.…

Failure is an event no one wants to go through, but everyone has to go through to grow and prosper as an individual. My freshmen and sophomore year of high school is a time I experience failure. As I transitioned into high school from middle school, I had a difficult time adapting to the environment and work load I had encountered. My parents did not attend school in the United States, therefore, I did not have the support needed to transition into a different environment. Many times, I would feel very discouraged because I would not be doing well in class.…

It’s that time of year again. Winter break is right around the corner and the one thing in the way of it are finals. Cramming begins when we have to learn an entire semester’s worth of information into our small over-stimulated brains just long enough for us to retain it for all those papers, tests, or presentations. It’s time for the stress and procrastinations to begin and a nice cold beer once you end.…

Depending where I teach I might have to guide a student who has been passed through the school system or a student from a bad background. The knowledge of how important a positive environment has on a student both cognitively and social shows me that it is important to know your students and help them become better people. My future class will probably have students like Michael Oher, this provides a challenge to me as an educator and I what I learned from this character in will give me some background knowledge on how to reach out to this type of student and hopefully propel them to become better citizens like the Tuohy family…

It was an eight hour drive. Eight hours I would spend with three people I barely knew. This was the first time I had ever been anywhere over spring break, and I was going with a family that was not mine to a place I had never been. Anyone my age would consider a week away from their family to be a blessing, and I was no different. School was 700 miles away and I had a week ahead of me to do as I pleased while staying in a beach house for free.…

Hi everyone! In my previous blog post, I mentioned that I have summer homework that I have to do everyday. As I said in my last post, this is not necessary for all people to be successful, but I just feel like it helps my confidence the next year at school. In addition to doing summer homework, my mom also makes it a requirement for our summer. Of course, there are exceptions to doing the homework Like, I had a sleepover the night before and my friend ended up staying all day, or I have an intense summer camp that week.…
