The Last Hoorah
It was a Wednesday, the last Wednesday with my sister to be exact, and a split decision lead us on one big adventure. My sister Amber was leaving for South Korea with her new husband, Brian, and we wanted to have one last hoorah before she left the states. With little time and almost no planning we decided to go all the way to Monroe, Michigan, a fifty five minute drive, and go jump off the legendary cliffs. Waking up the following morning after deciding we were going, I wanted to get some planning done. I checked all the ordinary things: if it was legal, what supplies we needed, and other miscellaneous necessities.“Towels.. Speaker.. Snacks,” I whispered to myself while packing our bag. Walking towards the edge of the twenty foot drop, I felt a sinking in my stomach. I could feel my hands begin to shake, and my voice became low and quivering. I came up with this grand idea so I was expected to jump first. The splashing subsided when a loud thud of thunder sounded over the lake. Looking over at the other side of the cliff you could see the rain pouring. The sun faded very fast, the clouds rolling in a forest fire speed. In lightning fast quickness we gathered our things along with our friends. Walking back to the car the thunder continued to rumble behind us and we began to see the lightning. I felt that tightening in my stomach again and the color drain from my face. With each pound from the sky I walked a bit faster. Panic creeping up on me fast, I quickly regretted not checking the weather before we …show more content…

My breathing slowed down as I ran through the door of ‘Misty’s Salon’. All eyes turned to the door at the jingling of the bells, causing me to push my fingers through my frizzy hair. I began walking down the aisle until I reached my chair. I dropped my bags beside the chair my customer was sitting in and slid on my plastic gloves. “KeKe,” my friend, Camry, said from the customer seat as I began separating her hair.…

It was a gloomy day. I was at our Subdivision’s Local Beach getting ready to swim out to the raft with my four friends. The “raft” as we called it was the bottom end of a Pontoon Boat anchored in the center of Dollar Lake. Occasionally the rain and winds blew it. When my friends arrived we dove into the shallow end of the beach and acquainted our bodies with the cold, late Summer temperature.…

Sunlight poured in as Lacher sat at his desk, a book resting in his hands. His eyes traced the words on the page, focusing intently on what he was reading. He pushed his glasses up with his index finger, sighing as he heard a knock at the door. He rose from his chair and made his way around the office he set up in Helputt's old castle. He reached for the door before pausing, taking a moment to brush off his suit pants before turning the knob.…

Remember the last time you were at a casino and you heard all that yelling at the craps table and wondered “what are they yelling about”, but you never ventured over there because you are too intimidated by craps. You’re not the only one. I used to watch from a distance trying to figure out what was going on, people were throwing chips everywhere yelling all sorts of crazy jargon (“press”, “same bet”, “hard 8”, “odds”) all while the dealers are moving chips all over the place paying people and taking other people’s money. What a crazy and intimidating game.…
