Personal Narrative: How Mommy Changed My Life

Superior Essays
The last few years of my life have been difficult. Mommy committed suicide when I was only a seven year old boy and my dad left us when I was just a baby. Since the passing of my mother I have been living with my aunt. I never really had a father or any siblings so my mother was my best friend, she was the only person I was close too. Little did I know that during the best years of my life she wasn 't even happy. I spent my life with a person I love so much , but I wasn 't enough for her. I’ll never understand why. I know it must have been hard for her to raise me alone, but we didn 't need anyone else we were fine on our own. Mommy always told me to be strong , and until today I have managed to do so. I got out of bed and sat kneeled down in front of the picture of Mommy on my nightstand and I said a prayer. I pulled out a flower that I had picked off a bouquet from the farmers market out of my pocket and placed it next to the old picture. I put on the shirt I only wear on special occasions, a blue and white striped blouse that is way to big for me which had once belonged to my father. As I brushed my hair the piercing sound of an empty bottle falling onto the cracked tile floor in the kitchen startled me and I ran downstairs and saw aunt Leonie was passed out on the living room couch , she had been lying in that exact possession since yesterday. I entered the Kitchen and started to pick up the peaces of glass that had been knocked over. I cut my finger on a large piece and I even let out a little scream which is unusual cause I never show my emotions, not even when I 'm in pain. As I walked to the sink to rinse off my finger I saw Lingo my cat lying in it. I called him but he didn 't budge. I thought maybe the bottle fell on him and hurt him. I rushed towards the sink to get a better look and I saw that there was a pool of blood filling the sink. As I got closer I could see that there was a large rusty knife stabbed into Lingo necks. My body filled with terror. Lingo is the only thing I have befriended since my mothers death. I slowly ripped the knife out of Lingos neck watching the blood …show more content…
Detectives found the body of 47 year old Leonie Rutherford hanging in her basement and the body of her nephew 12 year old Cole Wellingham with self inflicted knife wounds in the closet. It appears through the suicide note found with the boy that an intruder had staged his aunts death to appear as if she committed suicide, and after having the body examined by the coroner it was established that the woman was already dead before being hung. The leading suspect in this case is Robert Cole Wellingham. Wellinghmas fingerprints were found at the scene. Wellingham is suspected of killing both the 47 year old woman and is now the prime suspect in the unsolved homicide of her sister ( the boys mother) 5 years ago to the day on February 7th 1966, staging each murder to look like a suicide. Wellingham was last seen at Marie Annes BBQ between 7:30 and 8:00 pm Sunday February sixth. Mom was small, a slight 110 pounds but through my eyes, she was large, even after my height surpassed hers. To this day, she would argue that she weighed only 100. Her strong presence claimed her space, and anyone else's that she cared to. Being right was of utmost importance to her, and she made sure always to have the last word. Overbearing, and overprotective of me, her only child, she usually controlled every situation, regardless of how trivial.…

The people who had the biggest impact on me is the woman who gave me life, my father, and my community.
