Personal Narrative Essay: The Last Day Of School

Superior Essays
It was the last day of school of my freshman year. I stood at the doorway of my world history classroom counting down the seconds as Kelcie and I repeated, “Summer, summer, summer.” The bell finally rang and everyone started running to the parking lot. Everybody was rushing to go eat lunch and hang out with their friends. I on the other hand included myself into my neighbor, Taylor’s plans. He asked me if I would like to help him build a slip n’ slide but he never would’ve thought I’d invite my friends to enjoy it too. It was just the beginning of a long day that ended in a disaster. It all started on a sunny day when I went over to Taylor’s house to help him set up his slip n’ slide. He forgot to mention to me that it wasn’t an actual slip …show more content…
They helped make it more pleasurable for me but I still had had enough of sliding into a ditch. I talked my friends into going to my house to go swimming in my pool. They agreed that was a better plan than staying here. Of course the boys heard us, and they followed us to my house. My pool was packed with teenagers. My mom was about to have a fit, but she eventually got over it. My mom had recently bought a cheap volleyball net that one of the boys found in the pool storage box. We enjoyed playing volleyball. We continued to yell at each other. “It’s our ball!” “No, it’s our ball this round!” None of us actually knew the rules of volleyball but we acted like we did. After volleyball was over, we continued to stay in the pool and converse about whatever came to mind until dark. Everyone started leaving as the sun was setting. I had one friend, Kira, stay the night that night so she didn’t leave, but she didn’t expect these later events to occur. After everyone left, we took hot showers and laid in bed to watch Netflix, our favorite past time activity. We didn’t know we would be getting out of bed hours later after we started watching …show more content…
I replied and told him we would be over there shortly since she lives only four houses from mine. By the time we were ready to go, they had already left and were back at his house. I knew my mom wasn’t going to let us go over to his house this late at night so I asked to just go over to his aunt’s house to play ping pong since that was the original plan. My parents said that was fine if we were home by midnight. We arranged for the boys to pick us up on the corner of my street instead of walking all the way to his house. We were pulling into his driveway when my mom calls me. “Allyson why are you at Taylor’s house and not Mrs. Lori’s house?” my mom yelled, “You told us you were just going to her house to play ping pong and yet you’re at his house.” I replied, “How did you know I was at his house?” She explained, “You sounded guilty so I asked your dad to track you.” We were busted. We walked home in shame. I walked into the house and headed straight to my room before my parents could stop me. They call me from downstairs and down I go to be punished. “Allyson, you are grounded for a week.” I was not happy at all. It was literally the first day of summer and I was already grounded for simply lying about where I was. The beginning of that summer couldn’t have gone any

The hardest thing I’ve ever went through? Let me take you back to almost three years ago to a very cold Thursday morning in January. I was sitting in history class when suddenly something very strange happened; the announcement speakers came on. To most people it would seem like it was a very typical day to day event to listen to announcements; but at my school announcements were rarely ever said. My classroom got completely silent; to the point where you could have heard a pin drop.…

These three girls whom I put on a pedestal in my head wouldn’t accept me. This moment is so lucid for me because it was really difficult for me to comprehend at that age. I would just cry and play in the sand box alone at recess and wonder what was wrong with me. Elementary school got much better as I made new friends. However, I did start to hid my identity.…

Me and my companions were known as the Z-boys (the "Z" remains for Zeffers, a skate company that supported them in skateboard rivalries). Before skate parks, half pipes and bowls were imagined, we would jump fences to get into random neighborhood swimming pools. Since there were numerous water dry seasons in California, all the swimming pools were low on water. So me and my posse would deplete the pools with buckets and trash bags and after that skate in them until the owner of the house got back from work. I was seen as an originator in vertical skateboarding and was credited as one of the essential skateboarders to do frontside air.…

The funny thing was, just before my mom had dropped me off to the movies she told me that under no circumstances could Connor spend the night. This was because the next day we were getting up early for a workout and I had a lot of homework to do, including writing this rough draft. I told Connor this and was kind of scared to call my mom and ask her considering what she had told me earlier. I was afraid that she would get angry if I pressed her on this matter. But, being a teenager, I decided to call her anyways and ask.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

Fifth grade is a cardinal year; an important milestone in everyone’s life, especially mine. With the first day approaching, and the warm summer of 2009 coming to a close, many of my peers were bursting from the seams with excitement as well as harmless cockiness; we had earned our positions as the top dogs at Pineville Elementary! With my fresh, glossy folders and binders and notebooks, and an outfit I picked out all by myself ready to go, I assured my mom she didn't have to walk me to my class on the first day. Being a fifth grader now, I couldn't have my mom embarrassing me; she did, however, steal a few quick pictures of me walking into the school. As eager as I felt about being an almost-middle-schooler, fifth grade meant something else to me.…

Being a high school student is composed of restless nights, and eight exhausting hours of classes in which you are obligated to stay awake in. A normal school day begins with me snoozing my alarm about ten times before my dad walks into my room telling me the dreaded “time to get up for school” reminder which I just take as a suggestion. Normally I will drag myself into the bathroom about ten minutes later to begin my routine. I spend about 40 minutes in the bathroom preparing myself for school and by the time I am done it is usually time to grab all of my things and barely catch the bus. Now this has to be my least favorite part of the day.…

Once the school year got started I began to make friends and to be known around the school. So I had decided to try out for the basketball team.…

The leaves started to change and I finally felt like new again. It was my junior year and all I wanted to do at this point was get the heck out of high school. I had maybe two or three good friends that I could actually count on at the time. I didn’t really have any of those good friends during my lunch period and was forced to have pointless conversations with irrelevant girls who only cared about their image and how popular they are in high school. My viewpoint of high school now was completely changed.…
