Personal Narrative Essay: The Hawk And The Red Horse

So it finally snowed! I’m happy that it finally did and I built a snowman during the storm and it looks kind of…squared you could say. Since the snow is heavy, more of the leaves are now fallen off and it’s starting to look like winter. Today I went to my grandparents’ house to spend the few nights until thanksgiving. While driving out there, the corn fields and the bean fields were all covered with snow, you could tell that the deer were out and about since you could clearly see the footprints in the snow. We saw a dead rabbit I believe in the middle of the road and I saw the Red-tailed Hawk, I believe but I know it was a hawk. The hawks back was like a golden brown with some black on the feathers and of course the back. When we got closer …show more content…
So I went outside to help my grandparents shovel the sidewalk and porch, right in front of us is small pasture for our neighbors, Harmstons, horses to roam. My grandfather started to laugh and told me to look over there and we see a buck and a doe mating inside the pasture while the horses minded their own business. I laughed but I thought it was awkward that the horses didn’t do anything like they usually do. Later that night I was up doing one of your last labs and I heard the coyotes outside. It did kind of scare me since it’s been awhile since I heard one of them howling like that. I felt that it’s mating season for the coyotes because I only hear that type of howl like once or twice a year. There’s another forest behind us where our different neighbor owns, the forest is quite dense enough for deer’s, coyotes, raccoons, or possums to live on. There is a small creek for water also down there but during the summer it gets nasty because of the cows that come into that pasture. Inside the forest there is a fence for the cows, usually in these woods we don’t hear about the cows getting killed or injured by any animals so I’m glad of

Many years ago, laying out on the trampoline late at night, I remember hearing the coyotes howl and yip in the field bordering my friend’s house. The sound so frightened us that we promptly rushed inside. To children that grew up never truly in the country, only on the edge of town, coyotes seemed so wild. However, as Dan Flores illuminates in his book, Coyote America: A Natural and Supernatural History, that encounter was not an unusual experience at all. In the past century coyotes have spread across all reaches of the United States.…

I believe that the motto “Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon,” is a perfect motto to describe myself as both a person and student. Growing up, I always took pride of my hometown (Vermilion, Ohio). My hometown, paired with the rollercoaster of experiences I endured throughout middle school and high school, made me who I am today. Granted, there were hard times and struggles, but I would not be where I am today had I not grown from those experiences. As I stated in my application, I represented my school and hometown at the 2013 Buckeye Boys Convention.…

In the summer of 2013, I and my cousin, Jared, got a call from my dad telling us to get ready because he is coming to pick us up to go get a new horse he just bought. We did not think anything of it since it was not the first horse we had encountered this summer. When my dad pulled up in the old one-ton red Ford pickup pulling a 16foot red and black horse trailer, Jared and I jumped in the pickup. After about an hour of driving, we arrived at the man’s house that owned the horse. Once we introduced ourselves we followed the man through the muddy trail to his horse pens.…

I thought that maybe it was my neighbors, since they are always working on things at all hours of the day and night. When I heard another loud noise, a short time later I decided to go back downstairs to see for myself what it could be. When I went downstairs, I noticed my Uncle Mike standing up looking through the window of the backdoor. He was staying with us that evening and was asleep on the couch when he heard the noise too. We sat there for several minutes staring out the windows,…

In mid October early in the morning the day was crisp and chill. The sun was just burning the morning fog off of the lakes cool waters. The dew on the grass and trees was glistening from the sunlight and the bird were singing their songs of jubilee . The entire woods were peaceful and still, and the sunrise was magnificent. During this moment I realized how beautiful nature is when the outside world is a distant memory, and all we need to do is take advantage of the little things life gives us and never stress the big ones too much.…
