out also. The German Sheppard began to simmer down. She loved the attention that the kids were giving him. It was the craziest thing I had ever saw. Those kids were treating that dog as if she was a Queen.
All of a sudden Dwayne glanced in my direction with a worried look on his face. He was surveying the situation. I really didn’t pay any attention to him, because he was always over protective of our group. Then all of a sudden he looked, as if he had seen a ghost, and started to run in my direction, after a brief second, he scooped up one of the kids and started to run in the farthest direction from the group as possible. While he was running he glanced over his shoulder and yelled Bomb! As he got clear of the group he headed down a run

Dwayne had told me that you were happily married with a couple of kids. He had told us that you talked to them all the time.” James reached into his pocket, and pulled out a worn photo, and said, to look at it. Finally, James handed it to John. John started at it, caressing it with his thumb, and asked, “James what about these innocent souls?” James looked away and said,” What about them? They deserve better. They have gone on with their lives.” John looked at him,” James have you ever attempted to get the help you deserved?” James looked at the ground,” I didn’t deserve the help that they had to offer.” John said,” That is nonsense, there are soldiers out there, that have made more of a sacrifice for their country.”
About that time John had glanced up and noticed a police officer walking down the path. As the police officer approached the pair. During my time in the Army, I have had plenty of obstacles, one in particular would be when I was a RTO (radio tech operator) and we were attached to another battalion to go raid a village. We patrolled all night until we walked twelve miles to our location avoiding helicopters flying in the sky looking for us. Once we finally set up an OP (observation post) we had a team go out and recon the village and we established a plan on how we were going to attack the village. My squad only had about nine of us, so we were not initially part of the main element to go in and assault the village. However, as we started creeping up to the first obstacle, a fence, helicopters started patrolling for us again.…

War can make the happiest person we know turn into someone completely different. It can affect them in different ways, causing them to go insane and to change. As noticed in The Things They Carried, readers were able to witness such changes in someone’s mental and physical state. O’Brien took his readers through a journey of different stories from his fellow war mates. Whether or not they were true, completely false, or only showed a little bit of the truth, the stories still go to show us how such an event can alter a person’s state of mind.…

Soldiers' Stories consist of collective writings all recording personal experiences during their time serving the country. One story that stuck out to me was Timothy Gaestel's because it shows the side of war that we don't get to see through pictures or videos which are emotions like fear and panic. Timothy gets injured and takes his anger out on his partner who flips out after seeing his injury. We're so use to seeing soldiers working together because that is what the government wants us to see, making us believe that there are no tension or animosity between each other. This is proves that photos can not express the feelings that go on.…

And you’re dead as well. Only a day or two passes before your parents get the news that their son/daughter will not be coming home.…

Memoirs of an Infantry Officer is a book written by Siegfried Sassoon about World War I. This fictional account of Siegfried’s life during and immediately after the war was first published in 1930.
