As I take my seat towards the back, I can barely contain all of my excitement. I could not help but wonder what was soon to come. Who would be there? What would it be like? Will I get lost? So many unanswered

My graduate experience will be light years different then my undergraduate training. I chuckle just contemplating the technological difference alone. Back when I attended undergraduate school there wasn’t the internet, the LoudCloud, e-books, or personal laptop computers. By the way google informed me that my particular calculator at that time was the first of its kind.…

I remember having my hair in three ponytails with pink knockers, jumbo twist, and a tiny clip at the end. I was drinking strawberry milk, at a wooden table that had a vase filled with sunflowers in the middle of it. I watched my grandmother read the Savannah Morning Newspaper with coffee stains on the front page. The stains came from putting her coffee mug on top of the paper to get up and stir the cheese grits that were on the stove. I always used to ask, “Grandma, can I have the funny page?”…

Growing up in a traditional Mexican household, one is encouraged to work hard and strive to accomplish any goals we put forth for ourselves, but when it comes to education, most parents are barely high school graduates. Therefore, they lack in higher education experience, and as a result their kids at times suffer from it. There is no one to stir them in the right direction or show them the ropes around college life, which often leads to young high school graduates settling from jobs and not pursuing careers . I can personally say that I was one of those kids who did not have parents whom went on to attend college after graduating high school instead they had kids at a young age at made the best of the situation they were in. my parents did…

It was the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Mornings were chilly not too cold just enough to wear a light sweater; you could feel the cool breeze coming in waiting to settle in for the season. When the afternoon came you could feel the warmth of summer still lingering in the air. With the beginning of fall coming in it also meant that there was another new school year that would start.
