Personal Narrative: The Beauty Of The Sawtooth Mountains

Superior Essays
I have done plenty of challenging things in my life, but a few of those things were harder than others. Like a thirty mile hike. Right now you probably think I’m crazy for hiking up mountains for thirty miles! But I will never forget the experience of the beauty of the Sawtooth mountains and spending time with my grandpa. Also, I will never forget the massiveness of the three ridges we had to climb up. That was definitely not my favorite part of the hike.
The hike started out at a lake called Pedit Lake, then we went to a few other mountain lakes before we got to beautiful Redfish lake, our destination. The first day was definitely the hardest day. We started the hike by going up this really steep slope. When when we got to the top we had to take a rest. It’s kind of hard to carry a thirty pound pack up a massive steep hill.

My grandpa said, “ I’ll go first.” “Ok.” I replied. Grandpa went across just fine, but when I went across I fell in the river! Luckily it wasn’t very deep, so only a little bit of my pants got wet. That water was freezing though. Also, it isn’t fun to hike in wet boots. After my little fall we could see the massive ridge we had to hike up. This one was even bigger that the last! And my boots were wet, this was going to be ten times worse than the last one. When we started up the mountain my legs felt like they were about to fall off. It hurt pretty bad to walk a few steps. And I was out of breath. When we finally reached the top we could see a lot of lakes. It was just as incredible as before. This is the best view I will ever see I thought. Our second day pretty much finished the same as the first. We treked down the mountain and then we set up camp. I even caught another

There are many places I hold dear to my heart such as traveling to the mountains, visiting my grandma or going down to the Russian River and swimming in the freezing green river. But one particular place that stands out in my memory is Mount Shastina. We have gone to Mount Shastina during times of snow and during times of intense heat, which has exposed me to different activities that depend upon the climate. I have been going there, to McCloud, which is North of Mt. Shasta, with my family for as long as I can remember. In the center of a desert lies our rustic cabin with 3 bedrooms and a nice fireplace to keep us warm.…

When we got there, I was so amazed at about the nature and its surroundings. On our arrival, I thought that I was only going to see a place surrounded by water, but instead I got the shock of my life. As I looked around, I saw different shapes of the mountains, plants, and animals at the place. I was supposed to put on the right attire for the trip, but I wore a fancy dress with high heel shoes and a lot of jewelries to match the attire. Our tour guide told us that the water falls was between the mountain and the valley.…
