I was excited that I did not have to sit in traffic anymore and work was just a 15 min walk away. I was so nervous on my first day, I did not know how much different the clients and staff were in the city compared to the suburbs. I walked in and there was my station decorated with balloons and a giant welcome sign, I was so happy all of my nerves went away. My boss greeted me with a giant smile and hug. He introduced himself “Hi I’m Mike I’m your boss and you’re going to love it here girl!”. He was a short, chubby, gay man in his late 20s and had a very flamboyant personality, we instantly became good friends. I was so relieved that everyone was friendly. I was not making too much money, but I was managing my money well. I was learning how to cook and do my laundry all on my own, everything was falling into place. About 4 months into working in my new location I was promoted to Assistant Manager. I felt like I had finally found what I was supposed to do with my life. I was very excited for the future.
